Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

So I don't disagree with that, the issue is AJ says she did see them. And she hasn't refuted that (yet).

Quite why the files would ever end up in her possession unless she was going to read them is still beyond me.
We know that AJ lies under pressure, this trial has demonstrated that over and again. Byrne is in no position to control who gives her what in a file. My post then refers. I still think she is a useless CEO and not capable of running a football club, but everyone deserves the benefit of doubt unless there is good reason to suggest otherwise. The behavior of AJ and his lawyer suggests that they were only concerned with his interests, which is fair enough, but I stated on here at the time when they asked for a deferment from October, that it was for financial reasons, and i still believe that. I believe that they both knew that he was guilty, that his career was finished and that they extended his earnings at the expense of the club's reputation.

A completely reasonable interpretation of that is: Johnson admitted kissing the girl, but not the three other offences. The club saw some transcripts confirming the kissing allegation. The club was therefore not able to determine whether he would be found guilty of all four offences or form an opinion on his decision to plead not guilty to three of the four offences. And therefore the club DID know he'd committed a sexual act with a child but still played him in the team.

People are having a go at those being critical for supposedly trying to read something into the statement. But if that's the case why did the club tiptoe so carefully around it and not actually say, "We did not see anything in the documents which indicated Johnson had committed an offence or hear anything from Johnson in which he admitted committing an offence?" It is not in the least unreasonable to look at the statement and see it as an act of arse-covering by an organisation which knows it has royally fucked up.
That's a fact is it?

Starting to get sick of this thread, nobody's opinions are going to change at this stage unless more evidence comes out one way or the other and we're starting to run round in circles. Gunna send the club an email so at least they know I'm not happy as things stand, seems more constructive than posting on here. Will pop back when the shit finally hits the fan ;)

I really don't get your 3rd sentence like. It's a message board where people discuss, it's hardly attention seeking.

I'll explain.

Those coming on to demand this or that from the club, knowing it's just a message board, are attention seeking imo.

They know that they'll get attention, on here, but that they're wasting their time.

If they really want a respose from the club they would contact the club.

I'm not including people talking about the case or their opinions in the attention seeking category ........ it's a chat forum for chatting ;)

I'm sure if the shoe was on the other foot we wouldn't make anything of it of course

Come off it man. The club employed a sex offender under what can be described as, at best, murky circumstances. No club should be given a free pass for that and where it any other club we'd have no hesitation in condemning them for it.

That is absolute bollocks. You have no hard evidence that there is anything murky, other than the proven behaviours of AJ, his allegations (as a proven liar) and the word of his lawyer who was advising a not guilty plea until the start of the trial, when he knew for sure (unlike Byrne) that AJ had admitted kissing and grooming a minor.

You do know the club read this board?

Well yeah, but I also know those demanding a statement won't get one.

Sadly the same people asking know they won't get one, which is pontificating to make it look as if you're taking a stand.

May I just reaffirm I'm in the couldnt give a fuck club. Morals smorals. Clubs done nowt wrong. Johnson has even though i still think on a scale of crimes its bad but not horrific. He'll get his punishment. That 90th minute winner will live long on the memory and i will be forever grateful for it.oh aye and ftm

Sunderland AFC holding press conf 2pm. Won't let us attend. Won't answer Qs on Adam Johnson.

Why should they? Isn't this Allardyce's pre Southampton press conference that all clubs hold weekly over Thursday and Friday?

Why the fuck should Allardyce or any of the other club staff, except Byrne and any other director given information of this infamous meeting, have to comment? Really don't like how the whole club is being tarred with this when only Byrne was supposedly told this information and at the meeting.

Which is only right, not for Big Sam to answer questions which should be aimed at board level.

There's definitely a valid reason for suing Johnson. Not sure why the club wouldn't pursue it, unless there's something they don't want coming out upon an external investigation.
Masses of expense, stirring up all this shit again for months, further damaging the club's reputation in the press. Not to mention that the time could be better spent making the club successful. Their commitment to this wouldn't be a few minutes on a message board now and again.

He's not HR is he .......... when the guilty verdict was reached he'll have shrugged and said, "Wanker," then moved on to the Southampton game.
