Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

I'm mixed tbh, could and probably should have been handled better however I'm not convinced its as clear as cut as some are making out. Also I'm amazed that the club are getting more stick than the despicable fucker who put them in this position.

Johnson is going to prison, he's been sacked, he's nowhere near the club. The people who fucked up in how they approached it are still at the club, and hence why there's more attention on them atm.

There's no disputing what AJ did was awful, there is a dispute about what the club knew...

Are you so pedantic when someone says 'we played badly tonight'? Do you say 'let's be clear, I didn't play'. Jesus wept.
You talked of people " putting their heads in the sand"

I'm not at all.

Well I will just clear that up.

I am not enjoying it. Not one bit.

See how easy it is to clearly deny something. I just want to ensure that the person responsible is held accountable at the club for, at best, a gross error in judgement. Not happy with sweeping under the carpet.
I don;t think they've done that, each to their own though

When is he sentenced?
Likely to be about 10 years - out in a few with "good behaviour"/getting kicked in for being a nonce?

Yes I've been to loads of matches thanks. No I don't think the club statement would have stopped any abuse from other fans, however they we are the ones who left to feel the brunt of it until the questions are answered.

Nobody is on a keyboard crusade. I think you need to calm down and get off your high horse, there is nothing wrong with people addressing a subject that is major news and has the football club that we all love at the center of it.

I'm not wound up or on a high horse mate, I'm laughing at your pomposity and neediness.

Feeling the brunt?

Are you hurting pet, are people saying nasty things ...... I suspect you're lapping it up for whatever twisted reason.

I sat on a train from London to Doncaster and back, on my way to the Palace match, with my Sunderland sweatshirt on and proud of it ......

..... no one said a word. If you want to feel 'under fire and feeling the brunt' that's probably a character trait.

Questions: Why would a defence team hoping to keep the player a player, ie get over this, pass the club incriminating evidence, forcing them to sack him, in turn prejudicing their case? Why would the club, having full knowledge of his guilt, keep him on the books, knowing the shitstorm that's coming?
pretty much the circle i cannot square currently, byrne has a legal background - surely she would see it from a legal point of view....

The dispute is pretty pointless as the club have made their statement. I'm not saure its as clear cut as people are making out

We know the club were present at a meeting between Johnson & his QC where evidence was presented. We know the club had that evidence.
What we don't know is whether the club choose not to examine the evidence or whether they read it & ignored it anyway.
So for me it's either being incompetent or complicit.

No other option then

But there are still key questions that they should be answering.

This absolutely this. Johnson has played a blinder in deflecting attention here.
It's certainly says a lot about some of the posters on here. The only come back they have is " the club can't do any wrong for some, like"

For me, the board of directors can all drop down dead, and I wouldn't give a fuck. I turn up to watch the football. It's a football club, I never have, and don't intend to set my moral compass by them or applaud/denigrate their " business decisions".

It keeps it simple.

I'm not pompous or needy, I can handle any stick thrown my way so don't worry about me love.

Don't know why you think I'm taking perverse joy out of all of this. In fact you seem to be the one with the issues throwing shade at people calmly discussing a topic on a football forum.

Hard situation for them though, do they make a judgement on a case thats going to court? Can they do that?
