Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

I was going to say this. When he "admitted" to a "senior official" at the club that he kissed her, what context was given and/or understood. Kissing a 15 year old isn't de facto illegal - context is everything.

What I am really struggling with is the whatsapp conversation that AJ's lawyers passed to Byrne. Why on earth would his DEFENCE team pass incriminating evidence to his employer? That's a court case in itself! Is there not a huge possibility that the messages passed to the club were in fact incomplete, the chatty start to the conversation and not the later dubious stuff. Only the club, its lawyer and AJ's people know the answer to this.
This is my main issue, surely if the club had all this evidence they would have been called to court.

He's the guilty one, the one that had a trial to prove he was guilty, the one many afforded the innocent until proven guilty benefit of the doubt. Yet all the anger seems focused elsewhere.

Any reason to have a pop at the club sometimes!

The club says it was not in a position to make a judgement on the outcome of the case. Is everyone saying this is untrue?

I've read the club statement and to be host, what else could they say?

As I said over on FTB, where they've been following the trial (proof that the legal process doesn't give two shits about message board posts - unless someone was to become directly involved in the case and make comment), Johnson has shown himself to be a liar and I tend to believe the club here.

Not true mate. There's posters on here who have been privvy to all the goings on between Johnson and the club. How and why else woud they take their current stance?

It is, you disagree morally, that is up to you, but the club have done absolutely nothing wrong legally, its a complete non-story.
It isn't at all, sorry if I hold the club to a higher standard than you do with regards the way it should be run. The club Any football club has beyond all else a duty to the safe guarding of its fans, they either played fast and loose with this by letting someone they were told kissed a child and had pages of explicit messages too back to play or ignored all of the evidence
What if they did see a text message referring to a kiss, and he insisted it was an innocent peck type of kiss and not a full on tongues n all type of snog? How many young girls have had a little kiss in the cheek or forehead from their idols? I bet loads and I bet many were watched by beaming parents taking pictures, it's about context.. People are making out that the club have been part of a massive protection operation when the reality is they've been as hoodwinked and manipulated as the lass. The club were painted into a corner, it's bad enough having the rest of the world on our case without the amateur sleuths from our own fanbase trying to take the moral fuckin high road.
well if they were painted into such a corner then surely the safest option all round was to keep him away from the club, your saying they didn't know he was a risk or not?. So in those situations you take the safest option that wasn't to allow him back and play him.

Could have been handled better but that fucker has put the club in this position. He is the problem not the club.

I don't agree personally, but even if people are not entirely happy, they shouldn't be demanding sackings etc, its poor behaviour, and I really think some people love an excuse to moan. I simply don't believe that all these people are that morally outraged. Might be wrong, but it happens over too many issues.

'Sunderland AFC made a “catastrophic error of judgment” when they allowed Adam Johnson to continue playing despite knowing he privately admitted kissing a 15-year-old schoolgirl, child protection experts have said...'

Yet apparently we're 'conspiracy theorists'...

Loving it? Far from it.

There's clearly a section of our fans that think the club can do no wrong.

I really hope they issue a statement that clarifies everything. If not this will run and run.

Don't talk shite man, the hysterical keyboard bashers wouldn't believe a statement if it was written in Charlie Hurley's blood.

It'll only run and run on pathetic forum threads like the twin towers or alien autopsy's.

800+ Whatsapp messages?

Nobody is on your case! Or our case.
It's the hierarchy of the club who are under the spotlight. Nowt to do with me or you.

Your awake early considering you were up half the night trying to sway everyone to your way of thinking

I meant the majority of people who have an issue with it.

Why are you so sure that there will be a nother statement, when the majority of the people on this thread seem happy with SAFC's response.

A tiny minority on a internet message board won't have any impact you know

You're quoting an opinion.

Exactly. Johnson could easily have told them it was a peck on the cheek and nothing more, that there was nothing in it and he was going to defend the charges.
