Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

Fair enough - there's a danger of the pieces being put together in the wrong order here, as info has come out in a piecemeal way.
That's also the danger of people becoming judge and jury without knowing the full facts other than those that have been in the public domain, which the meeting with Byrne Johnson and his barrister wasn't.

perhaps I should have said shelled out mega bucks for his salary AND risked loosing mega mega bucks if we got relegated

But in which case fine, you're saying we made a calculated risk that he might be found guilty and if so we were playing a nonce (and we had the whatsapps, and knew what he admitted, allegedly)... But then we should at least be honest we did so because of the money we didn't want to lose. But imo that's a shit reason.

I don't know mate guilty of being part of the bullshit culture that is a footballer's life? Fletcher was going to be a defence witness, something to do with Johnson's pubes FFS. Wickham - sensibly dodged the jail bait probably cos he was shacked up with his pole dancing bird - they don't have to be saints in my book just not stupid f***ing idiots. We've seen it before with the gang-banging trio Lawrence etc. Johnson himself said he was arrogant and with no honour. Seems to sum it up.

What's this craic about pubes?

At that point I think they had already brought him back from suspension after discussions with the PFA. To then suspend him again would surely have had the same connotations as noted in the post you quoted (if they are valid) wouldn't it?
It was for the court to decide whether he was guilty . The club should not have let him fully represent them for that period of time simple as that.

So, let me think ........ I can tell my employer I'm pleading guilty now or keep coining it 'til the last minute knowing I may never be employed again

Yeah. It doesn't matter if they know you did it or not. It's all about how you intend to plead it would appear?

The CEO was present in the interview and saw the documents relating to the case ie the WhatsApp messages (according to what was revealed in court, which the club haven't denied in the statement) .

From what was revealed in those messages it was pretty clear he'd be guilty. If I was a SAFC fan I'd be sickened if she didn't sack him after seeing those.
maybe i'm being fairly naive here but i thought the police couldn't issue evidence that would pertain to a court case if it was to be used in court, again just a general question because i'm not a legal expert

I've followed bits - I'm just saying that at this time the club were aware that Johnson was going to plead not guilty correct? I'm sorry if there's something I'm missing here. I'm actually not trying to play dumb I'm trying to play keep up here.

Thank you - just wanted that clearing up. Confirms what I thought.
No idea if you are taking the piss or not

If they knew he had kissed her, he should never have had his suspension lifted. Whether they can fire him, well I'm not a lawyer

They should answer that point

So you're saying that the club had seen the evidence to prove he was guilty but just expected him to get off with it?

No. Try and read it again.

I'm pretty sure all he said was that the FA had confirmed he can play, not that we were going to have him in the squad. I might be wrong like. Either way he didn't play so it doesn't really matter

This is what was reported:

Adam Johnson will be available to play for Sunderland during his trial on child sex charges.

The former England winger will appear at Bradford Crown Court next week after being charged in April with three counts of sexual activity with a child under 16 and one count of grooming.

But Black Cats boss Sam Allardyce says Johnson will be available for selection when his team travel to Liverpool on Saturday and again when they face Manchester United at the Stadium of Light next weekend.

Of course anyone who believes that Short and Byrne have behaved less than impeccably can only be a Mag

The important thing in all of this isn't the scumbag who'll be locked up or the club.

There is a young lass who is a victim in all of this, who is probably feeling very vulnerable right now. I've just read her statement on twitter and can't imagine what shes been through in last year or so. My thoughts are with her & family, the rest will sort itself out

I would delete that if you can because while I think it's ok, we don't want anyone doing 'anything that can ID a victim' and it'll only take one reply and a criminal offence is committed. Just my advice.

Does it answer whether they had the whatsapps and knew he was admitting kissing the girl like? The way I read it they don't answer any of the qs about what was said to them by him (apart from him pleading not guilty)

He told the club he was pleading not guilty, that he had evidence to show his innocence and his legal advisor presumably backed that up (although funnily enough while everyone seems happy enough to slag the club off on the basis of what Johnson's QC said in court, nobody has asked why, if Johnson was following legal advice as he said in his defence in respect of his pleading, did the QC have a fit of forgetfulness at the meeting with the club in not telling them of his change of heart?)
