Ah OK I'm sure there was a game where loads of SAFC fans turned up as neutrals.
There was two possibilities here. The time Tranmere v SAFC was called off and loads of SAFC went to Everton v Norwich as neutrals - I went to Chester v Hull that day for a new ground.

There was also the Centenary tournament at Wembley when 16 clubs qualified. Tranmere played the mags and hundreds of us joined their support as 4th division Tranmere beat them.

Technically I've seen the mags beaten at Wembley and certainly taunted them as they traipsed out at the end:cool:

There must be loads of archived stuff out there from Tyne Tees and the Big Match etc. Stuff not seen for years. There are bits and pieces on YouTube but years ago MOTD Sunderland came out (on video only) and The Big Match have a DVD available, but still loads of televised stuff should be out there, unless it was taped over or destroyed. We were hardly ever off Shoot.

I had a bloke fixing my back door last week who was a Liverpool supporter from Warrington. He spotted my mug and it turned out he used to knock about with a Sunderland fan from Southport years ago. Anyway, it turns out he went to a few away games with his mate including what he described as the best day out he'd ever had at a match - Wigan mudslides!!!

Apparently there were something like 500 Sunderland that went in the away end (as we were matey with Norwich). I didnt go the that game (Tranmere) but I can remember the reporter at HT on Grandstand i think, saying something along the lines of "I don't know whose fans are making the most noise, Evertons, Norwich's or the 500 or so Sunderland fans here as their game at Tranmere was postponed!".

This, must have been about 12,000 of us there that day,to see another load of shite dished up for us. You could just about see a few Wimbledon supporters dotted around here and there.
I know I am biased,but......we are class!!

We were in Victoria station having a pint and it was just wave after wave of Sunderland fans passing through towards Selhurst Park

30 Year old blokes pushing each other over in the mud - Wigan fans in their side under a corrugated roof which was falling in.

I think that's the one mate, thanks.

We were circling the ground looking for tickets and an almighty roar went up when one of the branch coach(es) arrived at the side stand where most of our fans were. IIRC it was the Shields mob.

Hope you are well mate.

The thing is we lost most of the games, so they appear on other clubs 'Big Match' DVD's :)

Didnt he do that stuttering run the horrible bastard?

He will of done.

Not sure I was neutral, but I saw the mags relegated at Villa park :)

Cardiff 1980:

"Sheff Wed and Sunderland both brought 10,000 fans to Ninian Park, more of them than us, When they invaded our pitch at the end of the games, there was nothing we could do, they well and truly outnumbered us"

"I remember the Sunderland fans being up in arms in 1980 when they arrived at NP [about 10,000] the admission prices for away fans had been increased overnight."

"Sunderland had about 2-300 outside the Wells, most city fans were wearing white butchers jackets and dm’s, city got run all over riverside that day I remember it well !"

"I took a bit of pasting outside being cheeky to a load of Sunderland, now I'm big mates with them. They tried to fight Cardiff on the bottom of the Bob Bank and they took a right hammering off Cardiff, that was the only place that Cardiff managed to hold in the ground."

What a day that was.

We were locked out and hundreds of us started rocking the huge metal gates back & forth.

Looking back it was insane and people on the other side, trying to keep us out, could've been killed if they'd gone over.

As it was the polis realised we weren't going to disperse and just let us all in.

When Tranmere game against us was postponed, did Buxton or Butcher get the bullet the following day, sure a big thing was made about a pools panel verdict being a first for a manager getting the sack?
