Numbers are on the increase again, it's had a few periods of resurgence, after WWII being one.
Lodges in the Pit villages or related to the lost mines were thriving as well, also lodged with an air of exclusivity are thriving.

There are only 3 Degrees in Freemasonry, anything else is made up of side orders and just mean the initiate has to fork out more in subscriptions.

Positive, a side order setup with higher numbers of degrees to make people feel more important than others.
Entice people in with talk of "all brothers are equal" then when you look under it it's not. Just a big pyramid scheme with those who bring in the most candidates or the committees of lodges who bring in the most cash for the "grand charities" get looked upon favourably and progress up the ranks of Provincial and Grand Lodge.
