Tony forster. The mackem mag from Houghton will be keeping a close eye on this. Then running back to the mags forum with his findings showing them pics of his mrs to curry some more favour.

"Please let me be a jordy"

If SAFC were reliant only on spectators living on an SR postcode, the crowds would be half what they are at present.

I don't want to slag off our non-townie support but this is often said and I really don't think the crowd would be halfed.

I noticed when I did a bit of work in Hartlepool that the local halfwits who would be wandering round during the day aimlessly were highly likely to be sporting Newcastle attire. Proper scruffy c unts n'all

I have said before this Tyne & Wear shite detracts from traditional Durham borders. Sunderland is the Durham team end of story

Not really, mate.

What has kept most of us connected to Sunderland is due to Dads and their dads.

But, when you consider that where I'm from is about 15 miles from Sunderland, and so only a couple of extra miles up the road to Newcastle; there should really be no real pull for us to follow Sunderland. Except it's what people do, mates, family etc - that's the pull for people getting to about 8 year old. The fact it may have once been County Durham's team isn't going to convince any young lad.

I would say all the tribeless places along the Tyne like Gateshead,Hebburn, Jarrow and Shields are predominately mags.
Moving south of there it is red and white territory with the backbone being obviously Sunlun and Co Durham with the odd pocket of attention seekers here and there.
End of chat, OP is a mag wum
You are obsessed with shields

The postcode debate  it's all a load of bollocks man. Mackems live in some DH and NE38/37 areas. Means nowt what you're saying there. I was born in Sunderland General, my entire family is from Sunderland, I grew up in DH4 for 25 years, moved to SR4 for 7 years and now live in NE38 for the past 2 years. I'm a mackem, lived in the city of Sunderland all my life, but only SR for about 7 years. Bullshit argument mate.

Why this is being brought up all the time, I'll never know. What I would say, is that you never see mackems/wearsiders starting this shite and apparently its us/those fans that have the problem.

Wasn't making an 'argument' mate, merely observing that Sunderland draws a lot of its support from out of town.

Some clubs have a lot of support from out of town e.g. Us, Mags, Leeds, Aston Villa, West Brom

Others draw much more strongly from the immediate surrounding areas, eg Middlesbrough, Birmingham, Stoke, Burnley

By argument I really meant point/observations. Wasn't trying to be aggressive mate, sorry if it came across that way. Just that postcode thing comes up all the time when this crap is mentioned that's all. We all support SAFC and let's face it, have had very little back, but still through blind faith and ridiculous loyalty, turn up in our droves. Just irritates me at times, how people from outside the area try to tell me they are the "backbone" or "best fans going", then try to say its the mackem/wearside fans with a problem with them. It's just petty and pathetic, but can't help but point out how stupid it is. Threads like this are daft and how can anyone say who supports who in certain areas and be so positive they're right. Do they canvass door to door with questionnaires or do polls on the terraces ffs.

Ok mate no problem.
One observation I do have is that there seems to be a lot more 'allegiance' to Newcastle across the north east than to us, but many of those with such a mag allegiance do not ever attend - almost like they are a default option for the lukewarm type of football supporter who wants to 'align' with a local team. Even Middlesbrough seem to have quite a high 'allegiance' count, but they have always been notorious for being fickle and not turning up at their games.

It seems like a higher proportion of people who follow us actually bother to go to matches.

This is not based on any scientific survey mind, just having the crack with various people in the north east over several decades!

Just by numbers and potential catchment areas, I would say they have more followers than us absolutely, so by that reckoning we would definitely have a higher percentage of match going fans. Again, it all depends on the circles you keep, so it's hars to tell I suppose on anything like this. I remember growing up going to school in Washington, the amount of shit I got off mags, who I would of went to st James more than them, was plenty. Seemed like much more of our lot in my year, actually went to games. All this though, you can never prove and be absolutely right tbh. I hang about with much more SAFC fans than mags, so might view would represent that, even though my 2 best men are mags.

You are obsessed with shields

the silly old twat lives his life surrounded by shemales, pouring pints pretending to live it up. he has absolutely no idea what Shields, Jarrow etc are like. if anything I think Shields, Jarrow and Hebburn have had a large increase of underland fans over the last 10 years judging on strips you see out and about.

See an awful lot of mags strolling around the centre nowadays. I have even spotted mags in Seaham walking around with strips on. Got to be a close call, probably more mags overall I'd say.

Chester-le-Street, Pelton, Stanley, Consett area is predominantly black and white. Probably cos we're on the border with Gatesheed.

Chester always disappoints me most, it's on the banks of the Wear ffs

I get the metro from Newcastle to Sunderland for games and I was wondering on Saturday heading across for the Bus to West Brom, where does Sunderland/Mag territory start on the metro line?

Obviously I knew upto Gateshead is Mag territory and definitely from Stadium of Light is ours. But I haven't heard of the places in between really... Although Seaburn is really close to SOL so im guessing thats ours and Boldon too??
Seaburn is actually in Sunderland mate. No need to guess.

Was Chester le street always mainly mag turf or did it convert during "keeganmania"?
