Is County Durham more red n white or black n white?

More red and white to the east and more black and white to the west of County Durham in my experience.

Darlington is absolutely full of mags. More of them than us, Boro and Darlo fans put together. Hartlepool more Sunderland.
Wonder why that is, it's 35 miles from scumville

Growing up in Durham it didn't seem like there were many mags, but during the 90's it seemed like there were all of a sudden quite a few about.

These days there are still a lot about but I reckon it's about 70 / 30 in our favour.

There are plenty of genuine Newcastle fans from Durham, lads who had family come to Durham from Newcastle so their family followed the team. I've got no problem with that, I live in Newcastle now and my family will always support Sunderland. I've no idea why anyone from Durham without a family connection to Newcastle would support them. What pissed me off were those who jumped on the band waggon in the 90's, some of whom are still on it. Wankers.

I would say all the tribeless places along the Tyne like Gateshead,Hebburn, Jarrow and Shields are predominately mags.
Moving south of there it is red and white territory with the backbone being obviously Sunlun and Co Durham with the odd pocket of attention seekers here and there.
End of chat, OP is a mag wum
We may lack in numbers but make up in quality don't underestimate how many red and whites in this area

Central Durham is about equal distance to each city - Newcastle is much easier to get to with a quick and easy train route. Can't see why it's so surprising that it's fairly mixed.

I'm from the Durham pit villages (Deerness Valley) and it really does depend on which village your from. Some are Sunderland strong holds, Sacriston, Ushaw Moor, Brandon and some a very plastic Mags, Langley Park, Esh Winning, New Brancepeth.

The mag supporters if I remember when I was a youth (long time ago) mainly went to the match for the trouble. Skins in kilts with 14 hole dm's. The "Durham Mags" got quite a reputation if I remember right. Even though quite a few were close friends, I still couldn't stand the loud mouth dicks...........

Been working in Ushaw Moor today didn't see no skunk tops

Peterlee and Easington is 60/40 Sunderland but that v People who go to the match its 95/5 to Sunderland.

Strange why Easington have more of them. Blackhall and Horden is the same too.

If you go farther over into Thornley, Trimdon Colliery, Wheatley Hill it's pretty much all SAFC. Wingate has a few more of 'em for some reason.

But I know from experience that Blackhall and Horden has far too many of 'em to make any sense and this was before 1992.

Depends where/ I'd say areas like Hetton, Seaham, Easington, areas around Durham city centre were pretty much Sunderland. Darlington/Hartlepool is more Sunderland

But you've got places like Birtley Stanley CLS that I would argue is more Mag infested.

Hartlepool more Sunderland?

They love Newcastle in that part of the world. The place is full to the brim with Mags.

Judging by this thread, easily the highest concentration of SAFC in County Durham would be in the Thornley/Wheatley Hill/Trimdon Colliery area. Much higher than the 80/20 people are suggesting for Seaham - I'd say 95/1/1/1/1/1 in the villages I've just mentioned.

Never ceases to amaze me how people can walk about a town or village and not only can they ascertain which football clubs other random strangers may or may not support but they can also decipher whether or not they actually attend the fixtures of said club. Phenomenal powers.

I would say there are a canny few fans come from Hartlepool to our matches. Definitely more Sunderland.

There's a few in posh Yarm because they believe they are better than the Boro or us
Never seen that like. Yarm Thirsk Northallerton is plastic Leeds territory.

Also Darlington is not majority Mag its even between the four clubs. More who only follow Darlo than you'd think.

My nephew was at Uni with a Yarm Mag.

I can tell you with what is as close to a fact as can possibly be gotten without counting up all of the people in Hartlepool.

There are shit loads more Mags.

Of SAFC/Boro/Mags, I would guess 80% Mags, 10% SAFC, 10% Boro. There are probably even more Boro than us.

Add in that over the years there has been a lot of trouble between lads from Hartlepool and lads from the mining villages, and they associates the mining villages with SAFC, and the result is that SAFC isn't particularly liked in Hartlepool at all.

Nee way is Hartlepool 80% Mags like. No chance you're miles off.

Got to be mostly 92ers then?

Take it from someone who knows Hartlepool well. The placed is chocker with them.

People talk about Darlington being full of 'em, and I'm a lot closer to Hartlepool than Darlington so have no real interest in talking up one at the expense of the other, but I've found there to be far more Mags in Hartlepool.

It would be surprising to some how the people of Hartlepool seem have a real liking for Newcastle. Chocker block, and they don't like us at all. Not everyone by all means, but a lot of 'em.
