How have I made a piss poor argument in support of Pearson?

I've linked a post in which our favourite news hound has alluded to the qualities which kept Leicester up last season. He's certainly a strong character and well able to look after himself but as the article states the public face of Pearson isn't necessarily the same face he presents to his players........and whatever anyone says the main problem at this club is getting the best out of a decent squad of players.......I think he can do that and apart from a few pansies on here most of our fans will embrace him if he achieves that.

Look having seen the last few seasons at Sunderland where we have made great escapes routine I know when a shit or bust situation presents itself and that is exactly where Leicester were last year, it was the last throw of the dice and the players found something special in those last few games and were outstanding and to retrospectively say Pearson's approach with the players was the catalyst is stretching the bounds of reasonableness.

Something clicked and you fully deserved to stay up but you can't get away from the fact that for the majority of the season this 'connection' this 'caring approach to players lives' wasn't delivering.

Over the season it was enough to keep you up but doesn't stop me from thinking that Pearson's bad qualities outweigh his good, if he comes then he'll get my backing but he wouldn't be my choice

The bloke is a complete and utter bellend. His behaviour on the touchline has fallen below the standard of Pardew and when the pressure was really on him it was clear he found it very difficult to cope with. I wouldn't touch him with a bloody bargepole.

Even when we were seven points adrift I had realistic hope and expectations of getting out because we played well most weeks and didn't get the results we deserved but we were always competitive. This wasn't blind optimism as a fan as I've seen Brian Little, Peter Taylor and Micky Adams Leicester teams get relegated in which it was apparent all season they weren't good enough for the top flight. Even after we lost 2-1 at Arsenal Arsene Wenger said we were the best team at the Emirates that season and couldn't believe we were bottom of the table.

The Claudio Ranieri side are all Pearson players and over the last 17 PL games this Leicester side have shown form that could win the title. Pearson took Leicester from League One to 14th in the PL but all his detractors want to focus on why he was bottom of the PL at one point.

Only Chelsea and Man City could claim the same I believe.

This is a statement based on fuck all evidence.

He took a team from L1 to safety in the PL and left a solid legacy for a club to establish itself as a PL side for the foreseeable future but many on here like to judge him on perception with very little evidence to justify their claims.

I'm saying he would be far from a disaster but I'm using evidence of the past to make my assumptions.

Open your minds people and analyse his career so far.,

I can't say with any certainty that Pearson would be a success at Sunderland, just as I couldn't say with any certainty that Mourinho, Ancelotti or Guardiola would be either.

What I can say with virtually 100% certainty that any prima donna or anyone who won't tow the line will be banished. If there is a cliche at Sunderland then those players will either fall in line or very quickly find themselves looking for another club. It's the one thing he has zero tolerance on and there will be no player power at Sunderland under Pearson's watch.
 
I think we could do a lot worse tbh.

Too many people judge managers on their performances in press conferences. He's an embarrassment and a national laughing stock when it comes to those.

But weigh that up against how he fits the main criteria we should be looking for - strong character, track record, building teams, leaving behind a strong legacy, ability to keep teams in the Premier League, ability to get teams promoted into the Premier League - and there are a lot more positives than negatives IMO.

I read this the first time it came out and have paid closer attention to Nigel Pearson ever since. If he is picked perhaps his son can also get a second chance and strengthen our back four. We all make mistakes in our youth!

Given who owned the club it was a massive diplomatic faux-pas but if we are all being entirely honest it's the kind of thing young lads do.
