Of course they are bigger in terms of their history and trophies, though we get bigger crowds at the moment.

But as an Arsenal supporting friend once said, fairly big clubs look back at what they've won, big clubs look at what they are going to win. Both Villa and us are firmly in the first category.

This isn't true. I am a neutral so have no dog in this fight, but the overwhelming opinion around England is that Villa are a genuine big club, whereas Sunderland are a provincial club that no one outside of the north east cares about. That is stone cold fact.
