Dicks future in doubt again

Was thinking how he would be a great #2 the other day.

On the training ground, keeping discipline, like he did as captain

is there ill discipline at the club? If there is, is it worse than the type of discipline we had during Ball's era as player and captain? The era of Martin Smith, Michael Gray, Nicky Summerbee, Chris Makin etc

Absolutely spot on. Advocaat doesn't need this job, he is here because he wants to be for the moment at least. It understand Short will be frustrated by the millions that have been wasted, however to not invest now when we have a manager who I don't think would squander it might just be the point that finally makes our luck run out if we aren't careful.

Spot-on

I don't think he'll walk . He's not 5. If he does then good riddance.
Why not? He's done it before. He was either promised 5 or 6 quality signings or offered big money himself to stay on here. I think if he was offered huge wages he wouldn't be coming out with what he is saying, he would plod on regardless but the same quotes keep coming out, I want 5 or 6 quality signings. He's been conned by Short unfortunately and he isn't a man afraid not to walk away.

Oh his record as Academy manager is f***ing great, isn't it? How many first team players?

If we are always going to be concerned that he is going to walk away, what's the point? He might not be the man we think he is.

I think he's proved that already in the past. Needs backing simple as that.

People seem to forget the club has been playing a blinder for the last few years...spend very little on players, (employ managers on the cheap) and the outcome is stay in the league...jobs a goodun

How many people do their best work and are at their most professional when they know they don't need the job and are due to leave pretty soon anyway? I'm not having a go at Advocaat at that but just suggesting his outburst may not have been for the best. Personally I can't see any good coming from it.

 Aye.

If its doing it on the cheap how come the last wage bill went up by over £10 million...........?

The only thing a defeat guarantees is less points. If we had lost one more game last season we would have been relegated.

You said it was a shame we didn't suffer a heavy defeat - that's not something any supporter should be wishing for ffs.

If it makes short spend I don't care . I'll put it this way

a) got beat 4-0 on saturday & press have a field day with 3 defeats in a row & short sanctions 3 signings on the back of that result.

b) draw on saturday that makes short think that squad is good enough to keep us up and 0 signings, then few weeks later we get beat 3 in a row & window is shut and he can do nowt till jan window.

what do you choose, a or b.

I don't know how short ticks or if we would get them 3 signings as it been done in front of press, other clubs will put few million on price of player as its us.

I'm not having a ding dong on here about IF's & buts. :p

I'll cover it, Streaker...

" Asset stripping" "accounts massaged" " bullshit" " ES tax fiddle" " cooking the books"

You know you're going to get some of this...

Short needs to find out what needs to be done to keep Dick happy. He needs to ensure Dick stays. Those posters saying feck him if he walks etc need to give their heads a shake.
He is a manager who I believe can keep us up, the alternative is frightening.

Well he reckons himself he did come back with no agreement on the amount to be invested.

Thing is things said to the press are kind of like when the company big boss asks someone at the bottom how things are...."Good sir" is normally the reply.
It's the party line, but keep pushing someone and they start to crack, that's when you hear their true feelings.

That's how I see Dick's interviews, mostly the party line, then the occasional slip to what he truly feels.
Been there myself with my own company, you can only take so much shit from customers to protect your boss before you crack.

What flavour books, are we cooking?
Well, you chop the fixed assets, take the Sky money, bring it to the boil. Sprinkle some diced fixed costs, exclude wages because no one wants to acknowledge them. Season with a dash of depreciation and serve on a bed of reality.

Ellis owns the pan.

Can we get the pan on loan?

Exactly, my hope, albeit a wavering one, is that Short realises that the seriousness of the situation if he does walk and realises it isn't somethimg he can risk. Potentially shit or bust this like.

It's doing not on the cheap but doing a fuckng bad bad job of it, you have to question those handing out these deals and the people who put them in their jobs. What a joke.
