Name another club that would average over 40k every week with a post war record resembling anything like ours. You can't because there isn't one.

Here are just a selection of some of our home 'performances' over just the last three seasons:
SAFC 1-4 Crystal Palace
SAFC 0-4 Villa
SAFC 0-2 QPR
SAFC 1-3 Hull
SAFC 0-2 Hull
SAFC 0-2 Bolton
SAFC 2-4 WBA
Add to that some of the most depressing 0-0 draws of all time and it's nee f***ing wonder the fans give up when these spineless set of bastards go more than 2 goals down. The fact that we still get 40k+ every week is an absolute miracle given some of the SHIT that is served up on a weekly basis. As far as I'm concerned the more people that walk out the better, it shows we've had enough and won't put up with it, but of course we get derided for it. If it was those deluded twats up the road they'd be praised for taking a stand and thinking they deserve better, but little old Sunderland should just bend over and take it.
The players, boardroom, backroom staff can all get fucked; they don't deserve our support.

For 'Match of the Day' replace with 'The Daily Mail'. The producers are just lazy journalist types. 'Fans walking off' - it's an easy visual narrative for simple minded folk to notice. The papers do it all the time. If you can think for oneself, then you'll realise that most fans are nipping off to the concourse for a few pints, to use the nettie and to keep an eye on the monitors. I wouldn't get too het' up about it though.

See, the problem is you watch something on TV that is edited to present a story that doesn't exist. As the 2nd goal went in yesterday (around 37 min mark IIRC) a number of fans, through pure frustration went for their half time pints early. All of them returned for the second half. There have been pictures posted on Twitter showing the stadium at 16:39 yesterday and it is still largely full.
Don't believe everything you watch on TV.
