It's well documented that if Mike had done due diligence and so decided not to take you over when he did that you would have been well and truly in the financial poo because of Freddie's dealings. That is not daft debate between rival football fans it's fact

If he really believes that he has no insight into the shitty mess fat Fred left them in
Clueless as owt Janey. Hes the best thing to happen to their joke of a club but they refuse to accept hes their god.

That SSN footage of him at the airport was class. It was like they were filming him through a snipers scope

Forgive me if in wrong, im not from around the northeast but,Is "the toon " a charva word?
It's used by a cross section of wankers, to be fair it isn't owned by any fiscally defined group

We had debts and were losing money like a lot of other other clubs (your own included) but how exactly did he save us?

Fuck me, how patronising are you?

Is it a fact because Major Major said we were going bust?

Because you could have been the next Portsmouth you stupid twat

But hey, box on the "toon" are massuv and that, shud be challungun man yu and that

No, the debt was about £80M under Shepherd, Ashley has added nearly £50M on since he took over.

He may have been a bit of an oaf, but at least he tried to be successful.

No, please enlighten me.

and the rest was for what? To service the rest other business. Pompey very nearly went pop with £50-odd million debt.
It also allowed the club's creditors to be paid whereas other clubs who have chosen administration have bumped small businesses, leading to job losses. Yet, Ashley is still the bogeyman.

Shepherd made a shit-load of money and spent none of his own in order to 'try' and make you successful. It's f***ing barmy the way you lot rewrite history and gloss over things.

From the source they love to quote at us. Wiki

Ashley appeared to have saved the club from certain financial ruin by paying off large sums of debt inherited from the previous regime, although he was criticised for not doing when buying the club, as he subsequently revealed he had been unaware of issues such as the upfront payment of club finances such as the sponsorship, and the presence of outstanding liabilities for long past player transfers.

they been playing football mananger 2014?

decent signing along with wjnaldum if it works, they need a defence tho

Portsmouth had debts of about £70M, were paying something like 170% of their turnover on wages and didn't have the income to even service their debts. Newcastle were never in that situation, but that's not to say it couldn't have ended up that way.

I'm well aware of Shepherd's running of the club, and especially what he took out of it but for all his failings, at least he did try. Although to be fair, he did piss away the golden opportunity handed to him by John Hall.

I'm not glossing over anything, I just think the whole Ashley saving us card is massively overplayed.

Of course it is. No-one knows what would have happened had Ashley not taken over, it's all hypothetical.
