Hopefully they are.

What would be the point of doing that? This isn't football manager, bidding this and that and then moving on. We will look at a player, have a general value on our head, make an offer and then if that is nowhere near we will look elsewhere.

The world is full of footballers, no need to get hung up on one or the other. Word would spread pretty quickly if a club knows all they have to do is turn Sunderland down three times before accepting the next offer. All to satisfy a bunch of knicker wetters on a message board?
Because Congerton was shite last summer and now he lost his main target (a very good player TBF) because he doesn't think he's worth as much as Borini.

I agree you are not widely liked, and im damn sure you've not met with more approval. Fishpaste was a well respected member with the majority of this board until 'ballgate'. His posts have usually been well informed and interesting, something you struggle with. Less is more mate. The above is just mean and its a lame attempt to curry favour with a the popular anti fishpaste movement because youve made a twat of yourself too often.

Personally I'd much rather we had SAFC fans writing about us in the national and locals, being of a rational mind I realise that sometimes Im not going to agree with them. Thats no reason to burn them at the stake. It can only raise our profile.

Fishpaste is just starting out, hes a lad thats made a fledgling career for himself from writing in fanzines, twitter and being involved in discussions on this board. For the life of me I cant understand the SMB's keeness to always try and bring low one of their own, be it writers or ex players. Im aware of nothing hes written thats deserves excommunication.

I understand this idea that he can come across as arrogant when defending himself on here, when its you versus the world anyone can become defensive. Maybe being an journo and an active SMB member doesnt mix. Im not sure I would bother, every time he writes owt its like open season on here.
This, I like Fishyface, seems a decent lad, rather read his posts than some of the shit on here.

He wasn't shite. He was working in a tight remit and had that idiot Poyet undermining him at every turn. He has got us a pretty decent goalkeeper and a left back for buttons. The main gripe appears to be around Rodwell who had not kicked a ball for months and then walked into a side who kicked a ball sideways at best with a ridiculous amount of expectation on him (from here) because of his alleged price tag.

You also made up that he was our main target.

By the sounds of it we never were, an enquiry which was turned down and we moved on.

The daily mirror and bong eye will of course spin it saying they beat us to sign him.
Well if the story is true that Newcastle are in talks that should signal to us to go in with a bid. Would be mad to let this lad goto your rivals with us needing quality as well. The reports could be shite like but you never know.

Ridiculous expectation? He was worse than Gardner, 3m would have been too much. Congerton spent most of the budget on Rodwell and Alvarez.
So you don't hink he was our main target even if we offered around 10m on PSV's captain and Dutch regular? We must have Messi on the way then.

Where on earth have you got that he was our main target from?

Rodwell has a bit to prove, last season was never ever going to be the opportunity to do so.

He's an arrogant fool & his footyplace website he edits is awful. Says he doesn't work for Chronicle yet uses them in his Twitter signature.

I dont believe everything the press come out with as they are only interested in selling papers ,what I am saying we have to sign quality as Advocaat has clearly stated. No more players from relegated teams thats why they were relegated because they are not premiership players. The likes of Lens,Sow Propper & Claise are & thats where have to set our sights at.

I agree, but I'm not going to judge SAFC's level of ambition on the basis of what mag journalists and papers that are their "preferred media partners" are saying about NUFC.

That would be ludicrous.

Ok then. Our 5th option, the Dutch regular who captains PSV. Better?

People have opinions and such on this. I have to trust my contact even though the information is to the contrary now. We were interested. Put a offer forward and it was rebuffed. No big deal. We moved onto other targets. Every club will have a set price in mind of what they are willing to pay. We were not willing to pay whatever the price was. That does not mean it's a lack of ambition or lack of money, just that we don't believe it's good value for money.

Don't know about Newcastle interest at all. If they get him, it will be be wise they are feel they are getting value for money. Be interesting to see how it gets on in the EPL.

Saying all that though, I would be surprised if he came to the north east. Lots of clubs interested apparently.

Dont talk sense, the sad sack conspiracy theorists are in full flow.

Heard he is a big friend of Tim Krul. Maybe this has swung his decision, along with the fact that none of the top clubs have come in for him.

Probably watched Dustin Brown beat Nadal at Wimbledon last week and like Lee Ryder, it reminded him of watching Keegan's 'entertainers' so that's probably swayed his decision.
