Wijnaldum

We've paid 10m on Rodwell and we don't want to pay 11-15m on Wijnaldum? We're being runned by idiots then.
Do you know if the other targets are of the same quality/pedigree as Wijnaldum?
Might come down to players wages, he might want around £80k week where as Newcastle are offering abit more. Don't know what wages he is on now like but he's worth it.

Fair point about rodwell. Surely we can afford to throw this at a pretty good player?
We also begged Borini a whole summer for 14m. And now we give up after the first refusal for such a player. The board will have to answer for this if they can't get someone of similar calibre.

If we did enquire after him, and he is a decent enough player by all accounts then it should give people a general idea of the quality we are looking to purchase. Instead of wailing on can people not be satisfied that we are looking at decent players instead of Craig Gardner and Jordan Mutch types?

Ffs.

No shit, Sherlock. But I bet I've met more approval and I'm not even widely liked. You basically can't write for shit and you're passing yourself off as a decent journalist. You're a rent-a-quote twitter twat that stumbled on some followers and now you think you're jesus.

I agree you are not widely liked, and im damn sure you've not met with more approval. Fishpaste was a well respected member with the majority of this board until 'ballgate'. His posts have usually been well informed and interesting, something you struggle with. Less is more mate. The above is just mean and its a lame attempt to curry favour with a the popular anti fishpaste movement because youve made a twat of yourself too often.

Personally I'd much rather we had SAFC fans writing about us in the national and locals, being of a rational mind I realise that sometimes Im not going to agree with them. Thats no reason to burn them at the stake. It can only raise our profile.

Fishpaste is just starting out, hes a lad thats made a fledgling career for himself from writing in fanzines, twitter and being involved in discussions on this board. For the life of me I cant understand the SMB's keeness to always try and bring low one of their own, be it writers or ex players. Im aware of nothing hes written thats deserves excommunication.

I understand this idea that he can come across as arrogant when defending himself on here, when its you versus the world anyone can become defensive. Maybe being an journo and an active SMB member doesnt mix. Im not sure I would bother, every time he writes owt its like open season on here.

Heading to Tyneside early next week apparently, that's if you believe the Soccer Sauce shite like.

Not if we table ridiculous offers and move on to poorer players at the first rejection.

Hopefully they are.

What would be the point of doing that? This isn't football manager, bidding this and that and then moving on. We will look at a player, have a general value on our head, make an offer and then if that is nowhere near we will look elsewhere.

The world is full of footballers, no need to get hung up on one or the other. Word would spread pretty quickly if a club knows all they have to do is turn Sunderland down three times before accepting the next offer. All to satisfy a bunch of knicker wetters on a message board?
