I was chatting to a former journo from round here yesterday - he said he doesn't miss this time of year because it's getting harder and harder to get any information about transfers. He also said one of the main sources of info they use is WAGs who gossip all the time, players occasionally but all club officials will do when asked will say 'it's bullshit' or 'you know we can't comment' if it's the latter then there is probably something in the rumour.

So what IF he has chosen the mags instead of us ?
Despite the constant hoo haa that exists between the fans and FMA, newcastle will be seen by most players as a bigger draw than us.
Wijnaldum is what, 25 ? So, born in 1990, wtf have we done since then ?? ?? Not even one game in europe, not one.
The mags have been in the CL twice is it, plus europa 4/5 times and challenged for the Premiership twice under KK and once under BR. All in Wijnaldums lifetime.

Forget about shopping centres, expensive housing estates, airports etc, these are unimportant as the NE is a small area and all are in very close proximity to either club, it is perception of a club by a player, and even now, the mags are still perceived to be bigger mainly because of the Keegan and Robson seasons.

It makes the job of finding Dick's "5 or 6 first team ready" players a bit more difficult if you exclude obvious upgrades though. Based on his pedigree you'd think he was exactly the sort we should be in for.....one successful season in the PL and he'd be worth a lot more.
 
Would sum up everything that is wrong with Sunderland if we miss out on him to them wankers. The lack of ambition throughout the club is frightening and gullible fans are just standing back and letting it happen.

Why not ? He'll be on 25k max at PSV, mags will double it, Janmatt and de Jong there, one hour flight home etc etc. Can defo see it happening.

We dont know if we were really after him. How do we know if he'd suit the prem ?? At least Fer has shown he can handle the prem and yet most on here slag him off despite him being a dutch international with a good playing record.

Because unless he is thinking i've had my time, which i doubt, why would he want to go to the mags ,when other clubs will offer him the same money mags could, he will be at a bigger club than us or mags next year

He will obviouly view them as a stepping stone but if mags are the 'biggest' of the clubs currently prepared to bid for him, why not go there and double your money until a really big move materialises ?
An extra 25k pw would suit me and probably yourself down to the ground wouldnt it ??:confused:

What would you suggest we do?

Also, please give a synopsis of what he would bring to the team, using your knowledge of having watched him.

Finally, add some evidence in that we were ever in for him.
