Disappointed we aren't interested in him like, he is the player we need in midfield. The next midfielder to move on to is Jordy Clasie and that isn't going to be easy either, we have our work cut out this season.

We didn't withdrew anything. The player rejected the move.

The fact that we were willing to spend 14m on a player that summer means we can spend 14m on a player this summer, especially with the owner promising more money to Advocaat. There is absolutely no reason to dismiss a potential 14m bid.

Let's just spend all the budget on one player then and just forget about all other areas of squad that need sorting out. It's not realistic to expect to spend £15m on a midfielder when we have so many areas in urgent need of strengthening.

Nee chance with him either.

15 Million is not a lot these days, maybe we could buy some more championship players for the 7-9 million mark.

How do you know our budget is £15m?

Maybe we are in touch with psv but the everyone has the wrong player

tbf the club still has loads of debt and could have r. alvarez to pay for nee surprise it was just shite talk

I don't, I'm working off last years figures of around £14m spent. There's been no apparent rise in any sponsorship deals and we are still losing circa £20m per year, any talk of £40/50m to spend is fantasy.

I agree that it's very doubtful we'll spend that figure and it all seems from Advocaat saying you can't buy 8 players with £40. Mind, we try to do it with £14m.

It seems a figure he just pulled out of the air but, he will surely have been given some guarantees, particularly as we chased him to change his mind.

The Alvarez situation is a bit concerning with regards to Congo being entrusted with sourcing players imo.

All seems to stem from an article written by Simon Bird claiming Advocaat had been given a "£50m warchest", since then it appears to have become gospel that we have this amount to spend. I fail to see how we could spend £40/50m even if we wanted to, where is the money coming from? We have no players worth any decent amount to sell to raise money. Only way we could is if we just completely ignore these FFP rules and don't see that happening. We'll soon find out I suppose but I'll be surprised if we spend much more than £20m.

Unfortunately, I think the same

Andvocaat talked about the owner being willing to spend. He is known for wanting to have good money for transfers and spending a lot. There is no way he wanted to stay if Short offered 20m to sign 6 or more players. We won't spend 50m, but I'm sure we'll spend at least 30m this summer. We'll see I guess.

Maybe SAFC are doing a "smoke screen" here and say we are not in for him :)

Atleast i hope were still in for him.

so now SSN is reporting that we're battling with the mags for wijnaldum according to the sunderland echo.

are we or aren't we? damn I hate the summer transfer window!
