2 points -

1. rubbish! The club has consistently invested and it was widely reported we were willing to pay 14m for Borini. And do you think Dick would come back with an aim of 17th

2. On a personal level I feel sorry for you. Your outlook on life must be soul destroying to live with (miserable) day in day out...sigh

We spent £14m(yes £14m) in the whole of last summer and you seriously think we are going to spend £15m on one midfielder when we having major problems all through the squad? No doubt you're one of these people who suddenly think we're just going to find £40m out of thin air to spend on players, all the while the club is losing best part of £20m every season. You really need to wake up to the reality of the situation and spending £15m on a single player is fantasy stuff.

I reckon we'll spend at least 25 million.

Are you talking about the summer when we offered 14m for Borini? The same summer when we paid 10m on Rodwell? Maybe just my imagination then.

Ok, let's say for argument sake we do have £25m to spend. As a bare minimum we need a right back, 2 centre halfs, creative centre midfielder, a left sided forward. Not going to much left in the pot if we spend £15m on a midfielder.

Yes, that exact same summer. The summer we spent £10m on Rodwell, £2.5m on Buckley and £1.5m on Van Aanholt. All the rest on free transfers.

Not for certain, as there have been plenty of players to say they only want to sign for a Champions League club, someone offers bigger money and they sign for someone not in the Champions League.

Depends whether cl type clubs are seriously looking at taking them At that point tho. One thing saying you only want to play for cl clubs, another them wanting you at that point. Also even if you pay him a bit more basic wage past what those cl clubs offer (unlikely) cl appearance and bonus money will piss allover what he'd get elsewhere.

Driving a Lamborghini, no doubt. Is that you, Steven?
I used to live near Winchester, which is north of Southampton and work in Sutton, which is sarf of London. It was a lot more than an hour's drive, maybe an hour at 4 in the morning. At one point I also used to work in London, at which point I took the chuffer. It took me 2 hours' travel at each end of the day, that's 4 hours a day. Would have been nearer 5 had I lived in Southampton. To say Southampton is 'near' London is as gross a distortion of the truth as I've ever come across on this board. Good night and may your god to with you.

central london to southampton over 80 miles average time to drive it would be 2 hours....with traffic.......forget it

Only seems to be Zenit at the moment, and you have to think the Premier League is more attractive than the Russian League. So long as PSG or worse a bigger Premier League don't come in I think we may get him in a few weeks.

I'm an optimist but I also understand two other facts -

1. Dick would have demanded a certain budget
2. The new TV deal and ES's own wealth enabled 1 t0 be met

If you don't have any hope and you genuinely feel that we are aiming for 17th then I suggest you close the door on your way out, the last thing we need is miserable, negative "supporters". You sound like a mag

The location has nothing to do with signing for Southampton over Sunderland. They are a better team and every season close to European spots, that's why they are more attractive. All this talk about location is nonsense. How many players would prefer a transfer to Crystal Palace over Southampton, because they have a better location?
As I said, the location is clearly one of a few factors.

1. He can't demand money that we don't have, we are losing best part of £20m every year man.

2. TV deal doesn't kick in until 2016.

We bid, denied the bid, there was interest, but we decided that there was no interest so we denied that there had ever been interest.

This new way of working is a bloody marvel.

Actually, it is not a new way of working, I am denying that.

The truth is out there, not on here.

1. He did, ES enabled him to. I understand the £20m point but it's very manageable with an owner like ours (who we are very lucky to have)
2. Cashflow issue, easy to manage

The same summer we withdrew 14m bid and spent 10 of it on Rodwell
We didn't withdrew anything. The player rejected the move.

The fact that we were willing to spend 14m on a player that summer means we can spend 14m on a player this summer, especially with the owner promising more money to Advocaat. There is absolutely no reason to dismiss a potential 14m bid.
