No SAFC bid for Georginio Wijnaldum... yet. Interest there though. Looks certain to end up in PL having spoken to source close to him.

Love the transfer window newspaper reports
I thought we bid...

Would be nice to get a big signing over the line to show potential targets that we mean business.

We won't get a "big" signing in, the club only want to finish 17th, anyone who thinks they are going to be splashing out £15m on a midfielder is living in a fantasy world. The club has no ambition other than to finish 17th.

The years of supporting the club has clearly taken its toll on you mate. There's no place for that kind of cynicism in the eternal optimism of the summer transfer window...

Yes. Same as I've driven from Portsmouth to Sunderland in just under 5 hours. No one has said what time you were travelling. I'm proving the point it is do-able for people.

Our fans need to face it that currently smaller teams, have an advantage over us. Be that locale or league placing. For many it's both, like Soton. We may well have 40k plus at home games every week, but are we likely to break in to Europe within 5 years, doubtful going off recent history. Who will be our manager in 12 months time? Fuck knows! We also don't pay the wages that some of these smaller, but better placed clubs can and do.
The location has nothing to do with signing for Southampton over Sunderland. They are a better team and every season close to European spots, that's why they are more attractive. All this talk about location is nonsense. How many players would prefer a transfer to Crystal Palace over Southampton, because they have a better location?

I hope Craig Hope is right. If he wants to come to the Premier League only us and Newcastle linked and I think our manager would win that one. Hopefully his agent us trying to flush out other Premier League interest. If non comes we are still in the driving seat.

There is quite a few young, talented midfielders in that league at the moment. Wouldn't be surprised to see us on for Hakim Ziyech.

Echo states we have no interest in signing him. If true then roughly translated this means we have no interest in spending 10-15m on him as without doubt we must have an interest in adding his talent to the squad.

This is a wierd one from start to what seems like finish. Smoke and Mirrors?

Why would we not have interest in signing him

However if he's said that he wants champions league football surely that is thee end of it?

2 points -

1. rubbish! The club has consistently invested and it was widely reported we were willing to pay 14m for Borini. And do you think Dick would come back with an aim of 17th

2. On a personal level I feel sorry for you. Your outlook on life must be soul destroying to live with (miserable) day in day out...sigh

Not for certain, as there have been plenty of players to say they only want to sign for a Champions League club, someone offers bigger money and they sign for someone not in the Champions League.

If he is reluctant to come because of the CL situation it may be worth offering the chance to sign and give him a buy out clause for a CL team.
He would then have the opportunity to play in the Premier League and gain experience whilst advertising his skills. We would get a decent player and show a healthy profit if he triggered a buy out clause.

This has the appearance of a smoke screen more and more. Leak little bits of info to throw everyone off the scent of another target. There seems to be so much contradictory info floating about with it.
