aye and placed a bid to test the water.

It's just a bid marra, we have bid for loads already and nowt has come of them.
Well I'm taking that as a positive. It means we are willing to spend and cash has been made available. Sooner or later things will start to come off if money is involved. Its when we are scratching around for free or cheap players it seems to go wrong.

Agree with you mate, it can only be a positive that we are willing to spend big money on quality players. If it doesn't come off then we can move onto the next one, at least the intent is there from the club.

which is likely what will happen if we keep getting turned down and the window is about to close

Will be at the request of all parties I would imagine. I said a while ago that we wont get burnt on transfer speculation like we have in the past. An awful lot is getting kept behind the scenes now, far more professional.
Same last season as soon as there was a bit info on here last summer sky had it as the yellow bar the next day. It's as though the club are dripping out information when they see fit

Don't know if I agree with this 100%. Seems to me that if what you're saying is correct about us making a number of bids (I believe you btw) with no movement then perhaps that's why we have in recent history paid over the odds for some players. So you aim high in the beginning keep getting knocked back and then end up panic buying Jozy Altidore.

Wayhay.... the merry-go-round continue with this Dutch paper claiming we did ask about him but are actually looking elsewhere as a result. Sounds much more like us.

6th story down the page.

TRANSLATION
Sunderland no longer interested in Wijndaldum The rumors about a transition from Georginio Wijnaldum Sunderland take on a life of its own . It is true that Sunderland three weeks ago informed by the management of the PSV captain or a clause in his contract which state he may depart from Eindhoven. That is, according to Humphrey agent Nijman not the case. Since the club of Sunderland has left it to the interest has shifted to other midfielders .
