The decision was made when they revoked his suspension, long before Fletchers injury.

They've took the decision to continue letting Johnson to play on due to Fletchers injury.
Didn't even kna he was injured.

Mind, it's normally safe to assume that he is most weeks.

Its going to court..........theres clearly grounds for that decision which the CPS don't take lightly and the police don't submit the file to them unless they think theres a very good chance of a conviction (80% according to a mate of mine who was a DS at Peterlee until recently).................

Johnson saying I am innocent when his brief wont be discussing any details of the file with any third party matters not.........
All well and good, but he clearly hasn't turned around and said sorry boss, I'm going away for a while.

Because he was arrested. They reviewed the situation. Pretty ordinary if ya ask me.

As above. He'll have been formally suspended 'til the club could review the situation.

You have to remember the Police carried out part of their investigation at the club. They went to the AoL, they'll have spoken to players. It's probably the case that the Police wanted to keep Johnson away from there until they had completed their enquiries. Once they were done with the club and potential witnesses at the club, Johnson will have been free to go about his business pending the outcome of the case.

There's no longer any lawful reason for him to be suspended by the club.

I didn't say there was.

I think, in the grand scheme of things, a criminal case such as this extends far beyond any monetary value. Mind - and I'm not sure on this - I imagine if he is convicted the club could likely sue him for wages he received while under suspension, if they so desired.
Look, I agree with you that a criminal case as serious as this is far more important than money issues, especially at a football club where money is such a trivial matter. But what I don't know for sure is whether the club should have a moral obligation to suspend a player in any situation like this. They did already, and that's what makes them look so daft. But clearly they got advice and came to the conclusion that they didn't actually need to suspend him. Is that a good decision? I don't know, probably not good to go back on your first decision. But we're still dealing with a man who is innocent until a court of law decides whether or not he's guilty. You can't (or shouldn't) be prejudiced and decide a man or a woman is guilty before they have a fair trial. With that in mind, the club have probably looked at it and seen they will have to pay Johnson about a quarter of a million to just sit around and wait for his trial to begin. So they've decided to get some value from that obligation to pay him and keep him on. Is that a wise decision? Maybe not. I don't really know. In footballing terms, it could be a great decision. But I realise that seems quite shallow.

Pretending what? Pretending I know about a story I've assumed to be true? Like what you're doing?
that he wasnt CHARGED with FOUR offences YESTERDAY. i know this is true you are pretending otherwise to force your argument.

He wont have said anything mate..........his brief will have ben with him all the time and dealt with anything the clubs asked accordingly...........

Moral values v relegation.

A toughy for some.
Surely it would only be immoral if they defended his actions after a court of law had found him guilty. Right now he is merely a man who has had charges made against him. Is he guilty of immorality? We don't know. Only Johnson himself knows whether he is innocent or guilty of these charges right now.

I've never said any different you dopey herbert. Please show me where I have said he wasn't charged.
youre saying a decision was made weeks ago when you know that was before he was charged. this is a far more serious matter now and they have made their decision purely on the league position/state of squad which boils down to 1 thing and 1 thing only=£££££££££££££££

It makes nee odds. The club's made their decision, and I myself have no problem with that.

There's no question of morality, only legality.

Once they made that decision they had no choice, imo, but to stick with it.

You continue assuming the worst though, it seems to make you happy. Pip pip.

He won't play tomorrow. But if he scored the winner, I'd celebrate, safe in the knowledge that the club hasn't done anything illegal by selecting him to play.

pointless taking him if hes not playing him.

I don't as I think they couldn't win but they wont have been privy to information about the case to come to their decision............
