Ive heard some ridiculous excuses in my time but "i was just doing the chicken dance" is probably top of the list
 
On a tube to wimbledon the year we went down, a huge black fella stated that an safc fan had groped his lass. The entire safc carriage offered him out but I reckon our support has moved on a lot since.
 
Finally watched the video and I before I start reading all the comments on this thread, I can already guess the usual suspects who will try and defend it.
Which just proves every club still has racists and it still really hasn't been tackled firmly enough.

Am I the only one that thinks the jail terms being mentioned are way WAY over the top?

Apart from the tw@t who pushed the bloke the others were singing 'we're racist' while not actually doing anything to the bloke.
I've seen clips of asian men shouting much worse than 'we're racist' with the police actually protecting them and letting them shout what the want.

I'm not saying they should not be punished with a ban, but 3 years in prison?

Racism, in whatever form, by whoever, should be tackled as firmly as the law allows. But then I also believe that anyone with even a hint of any kind of religious affiliation should be banned from any position of governance, so what do I know...

The lad who pushed him should be done for racially aggrevated assault (assuming they prove the racist element of it in court) , im not sure if that carries a jail term but if it does then (and id imagine it would) thats fair enough. The other lads i dont think should be punished though. Are they arseholes for singing it? Yes. But im not sure that just singing "we're racist" should be reason for a football banning order nevermind a jail term

The Premier league HAVE to act, but unfortunately I don't think they will act for the right reasons. They SHOULD actively look to ban these morons from football grounds in an effort to drive out racism from the sport, but they'll ban these morons because they have 5 billion reasons to protect their own brand, without tarnishing the Premier League and making it less attractive to foreign investors.

I can only see one of them going to court and the others (ineffectively) banned from football grounds, whilst many thousands of closet racists defend their actions on many a message board and pubs around the country...

Bizarre how so much is being made of this. Chelsea football fans in being racist shocker. Do people reporting on this not realise it happens most weeks when groups of bonehead football fans get together?

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, I know why it's getting the attention in the sense that it was caught on camera etc., I just think it shows a bit of a blindness as to what goes in regularly when groups of 'football fans' get together.
