Racist Chelsea fans.

Some folk on this thread are the same types that complain about the MOBO awards.

Obviously it's disgusting, and they want banning and charging.

But I still struggle to understand how cretins acting like cretins is headline news around the world
Because it gives fans of other big clubs a chance to feel smug. It's only in the news because it shows one club's fans in a bad light.

I'm not saying it's alright. I'm saying too many doing trial without jury, a basic principle for me.
Even if and it is massively unlikely that this is the case that the group of lads concerned aren't racist, they're still being f***ing dicks for not letting the lad on the train and shoving him off when he attempted to board.

It does seem to have had an awful lot of coverage for what is, as you say, dickheads being dickheads. Not wanting to play down the incident but im sure there will be thousands of more serious cases of racist abuse every day in britain. Is it getting so much coverage just because it was filmed? Because it was football fans? If they get identified and banned thanks to the coverage then i suppose its worked out okay, but making the news in Australia?

Scum though they are it's because they're English and an English team. Other country's supporters are far worse and do a lot more but just goes under the radar and unpunished

It might possibly be that the carriage the guy is trying to get on looks overly full and so you've got pissed up knobheads who don't want anyone else trying to get on causing them to be even more squashed in, and then when someone else has seen what's happened they started the chanting.

Could quite equally all just be racist ***** but it's hard to tell properly from just that clip.

You clearly dont get on the London underground often. That carriage is no where near full. Do people in London shove each other off the packed tubes these bigots are probably on every day? Do they hell as like.

Bizz
If you re-read my post. Imagine the situation - you have a group of 20 drunk guys in a group, 1 of them does something based on whatever reasoning in his head then another one a couple of metres away sees what has happened then takes his own spin on it and starts chanting something.

I've been in that sort of drunken group (nothing to do with racism but using MY example above) where people will misconstrue what someone else has done and then you start your own little thing going.

As I've said, equally possible they are just bunch of racist bastards who specifically targeted him because of his colour, but you can't definitely tell the initial reason he was pushed off the train was because of being racist JUST from that clip.

Bizarre

Fair enough I say, play with fire and all that. Dont forget it is the association with the EPL and the money bags of Chelsea that makes it newsworthy.

Be interesting to see how this would stand up in court and if there was any more footage showing if anyone else was prevented from boarding. There was no footage in that clip of the bald bloke saying or singing anything racist or why he prevented the lad from boarding. It seems as though the people singing the song were not the same people preventing him from boarding. His lawyer would probably use that as a defence. I suppose more evidence is needed (witness statements, other video footage) before being 100% certain on this.

If it turns out the bald bloke was indeed preventing the lad getting on just because of his skin colour then he should face the full consequences of the law.

This is probably the most objective post on the matter.

There is a Chelsea supporter not allowing a commuter board the train - why? I do not know. But based on the supporter in question not chanting himself or even being cheered on by other chanting supporters - I think it is a bit of a leap in creative journalism to link two mutually exclusive events (that appeared simultaneously) to create total moral outrage!

Both incidents are unsavoury (ie the chanting and the pushing)and not acceptable and should be investigated, but the evidence needs to be looked at objectively and fairly.

I get frustrated when the media put their own spin on a story to create a more compelling newsworthy headline. Why let the facts get in the way of a good story - surely racist chanting and physically abusive stories should be good enough as stand alone stories.

Have to agree

Astonishing the coverage it has received

Thank fuck alcohol is banned on the underground otherwise I reckon you would see pushing and shoving due to a many number of reasons.

Are you going to say this post is bizarre as well?http://www.readytogo.net/smb/goto/post?id=19787563#post-19787563

You should run for cover, 90% of the posters on this thread will jump on you for being objective.

But they're not separate incidents.

Sorry, but over 30 years Chelsea football club has been the home of bigots, racists and thugs who just use the club as a vehicle to pedal their poison.
SCUM should be kicked out of Europe.
It still isn't all their fans. In fact the trouble makers are racists first and peddle their hatred via football as you say.

I really dislike CFC for many reasons and they do seem to have attracted a section of society who most of us would think were not football fans at all. But there are still many genuine fans and it is unfair to tar them all.

Did you not hear the chanting?

I've seen both scenes, trying to get on a Chelsea train with their fans spoiling for a fight and they won't let anybody on, or the gang leader won't. And even on trains as crowded as that people being pushed off because of overcrowding (but it is a metro). The way around it in the first place is to face up to the aggressor, but I would sussed that one as a psycho and backed off. The crowded scenario is the most dangerous, especially on a railway station. I've seen it get out of hand very quickly. Racist might not be the real reason. Bullying definitely.

Trying to play devil's advocate here!

Are there any quotes from this Parisian, stating that 'the big bald chap pushed me off the train because he said i was black'?

Until we all know the facts, i only see a man being prevented from boarding the train, similar to what some of our fans experience trying to get on the metro at Heworth or Pelaw on derby day. Then a minority of the Chelsea fans, obviously low life scum, further in the train sing a disgusting racist song.

A lot of assuming is going on here.

That's how I see it from past experience of London fans. Still needs the Neighbourhood Bully to think his space is being invaded.

Yep

Dont know what you think is so stupid about it mind, surely we all spontaneously do a chicken dance sometimes when the opposition bang a goal in against us? I did the timewarp when Stead scored on Sunday meself like, perfectly reasonable excuse
Trying to decide if you are being sarcastic or not, notoriously hard to figure out across the internet

This is what I said 'posts' ago & got loads of shite about......Today in news, 'a bloke gets arrested for having chemical agents capable of making a bomb, Russia invades more of Ukraine and a bald bloke is filmed not letting someone on a train in Paris whilst some pisssed up bellends sing in the background'!

Yes, yes they are. Unless the train was cramped and the fella was being a dick trying to push on. I have no idea but the attention given to it (headline news on sky today, loads of anti-racist types rolled out for their view), it being some idiots on a train.

Just shows you what a monster the EPL and the big clubs in particular have become. They sell the league world wide, so it becomes wide world news by association to EPL and Chelsea, its not surprising. Racism is as high on the news media agenda as anything else.
