Probably signed ages ago. We'll be waiting until the Yanks are awake so we can announce at the same time.
Toronto FC have called a press conference for 11am, 4pm our time, unless something is said at Poyet's prematch conference at 2pm don't expect anything before then

A lot of nonsense being written about this Defoe deal. Judging the club for buying him before he's even pulled on the shirt.

Regardless of what you think of the idea of signing a 32 year old striker, the most important question you have to ask is this:

Does signing Defoe improve our team?

The answer is yes. We've got rid of Altidore and upgraded to Defoe. Altidore near the end was our third-choice striker. And after the West Ham game he never played again. So he had arguably dropped to being fourth or fifth choice with Graham and Mandron on the bench last game. We'll have to wait and see if Defoe becomes our first-choice striker, but I'd say he's almost certainly being brought into be first-choice and to solve our goalscoring problems.

If Fletcher was our first-choice striker before and Defoe has now superseded him then that now makes Wickham our third-choice striker (for the moment). Having those three options is going to make competition greater. We didn't have that competition before, and the pressure to perform wasn't as great because Altidore was so useless, and none of our strikers would have been that afraid of being dropped.

If you can't see that this deal has immediately improved our squad then you are daft!

Hearing he'll wear the number 28 and will be in the squad tomorrow.

No need to panic about clearance or registration.

Hadn't seen the photos of him wearing it.

Very few would argue there, tbh. For me, though, 70% of the pleasure in this deal for me is the departure of Jozy.
