Defoe

I have a few, I just explained it in a bit more detail for those who rely on the basics stats. To be honest it didn't take that long to copy and paste figures into Excel from the links I posted and write some shite about it ;)

Here's a condensed version using basic algebra

A is Goals scored
B is Appearances made
C is Total minutes on pitch

The best way to get a true reflection of goal return is C/A. Some on SMB like to blinkeredly look at B/A but surely C is relevant seeing also C could be 1 minutes or 90 minutes per appearance due to being a sub/subbed. It seems @@not spavin thinks that A by itself is the most relevant stat over a season so I just explained why this is a flawed statement. ;)
Yes. Well, thank you. I was out last night so I will read it later.;)

I'm sure this has been mentioned but I don't have the time or the willpower to read 144 pages. So I'm sorry if I'm late to the party ;

Yes

CRYSTAL Palace boss Alan Pardew has revealed he wanted to bring Jermain Defoe to the club.

The 32-year-old striker is on the verge of completing a move to Sunderland, who are believed to have fought off up to ten clubs for his signature.

Pardew previously worked with Defoe at West Ham United, but it seems Palace were beaten comfortably in the queue for the former England man.

“I think it’s a good move for Sunderland to have secured Jermain,” said the manager.

“He’s a goalscorer and think Gus Poyet will be the first to say they need goals, so it’s a good signing for them.

“We tried to get Defoe but we were probably a bit late in the loop on that one.

“I wouldn’t say we were that close but it never really got to the stage where I spoke to Jermain."
