Really want to start a thread but can't be arsed, prob banned for even asking but..... Why do Pakistanis take offence at being called a Paki?
(I get how all Asians are labelled under this being offensive)
Because it isn't a race. When the country was created it was just an acronym for Punjab Afghani,Kurdistan, Sindhi and Baluchistan. So it means the land of those peoples.

Just ridiculous tbh. I use Chinese all the time in relation to having a Chinese meal, its not racist just shortened. Like Brits for British and Turks for Turkish.
Chinese is hardly shorter than Chinese. Chin or Chins would be more apt.

I say chinkie , paki , sausage roll , gypo etc

Just figures of speech

Nothing wrong with it

There kind of is something wrong with it. Its considered racist by modern society.

On another note, this does appear as the media are just setting up an old man. Seems a bit tasteless.

He's an old bloke, man. They're all like that.

Me Grandad in the 80's absolutely outraged that there was a black man walking down Tottenham Court Road :D was nice as pie to me best mate in Darlington who was black mind, mind he was Welsh!

So if someone was introduced to your wife/sister/mother and they said 'oh you're a split arse' then'. You'd be fine with that?

"Asked by the Jewish Telegraph whether he himself had ever used the term, he replied: "When I was growing up we used to call the Chinese [restaurant] 'chingalings'.
"We weren't being disrespectful. We used to say: 'We're going to eat in 'chingalings'."

He was quoted as calling Chinese people "chinks" last month too.
Wow, big deal........... Er....... Not.
