Sounds like you're really supportive.

I'll be okay, it was the anniversary of my brothers death last weekend so I was feeling pretty low. This week I've taken stock, dusted myself off and reminded myself the Christmas is on the horizon, happier times to come - I'm certain of it !

I'm feeling about a 6/7 this week - better than last week which was around a 5, dropping to a 3 tops over the weekend..........I have to keep going, I have my son to think about and I pray to the ether every night that things will get better, that I'll have happier times and hope for the future, maybe even a decent spell of happiness, that would be fabulous

Just keep plugging away at it mrs you`ll get there.

I can be as supportive as I like but unfortunately:

1. I'm 90 miles away from the lad, and
2. Ultimately he needs to help himself.

My point is that, as and as stated in my introductory line of my post, there are varying degrees of this.

There are, but saying that telling people to 'fuck off' will sort him out sounds an unlikely cure for depression.

You raise a good point because from the discusisons I have had with him he has never settled down since he split from his wife. He runs a kids football team, which he clearly loves doing, and he perhaps needs to think about what else he could involve himself in. In fact as a result of your posts I'll make a point of taking more of an interest in him, without prying.

Sometimes people just like to know that others are interested in their situation.
