We got that the minute he got on a plane to the US just for some reason that wasn't enough for folk on here. The disappointment on here is actually a product of people's inability to believe anyone wouldn't sign for us, and that he genuinely doesn't believe himself a higher level than a club who won't buy anyone.

The fact is though that with the Borini situation, we don't know what the situation is. A bid has been accepted is all we know for sure. The rest is speculation. When Poyet commented on it, he sounded like he wasn't expecting an immediate decision from him.

Just my own theory on it but I think Fabio has told Poyet that he wants to go back to Liverpool and see how the land lies and fight for his place but if transfers knock him down the pecking order, then he'll come back to us.

Poyet stuck his bid on the table and was willing to wait it out, possibly with a loan move planned as back up, late in the window if we didn't get him.

Liverpool have made the bid public and announced that it has been accepted in a bid to push him out of the door.

Liverpool still haven't signed any strikers other than Lambert, and they've lost Suarez so right now Borini still rightly believes he's got a chance of getting in that team.

So we're in the exact place we thought we would be, except Liverpool making the bid public has backfired and put added pressure on to everyone.

Just my thinking on it, could well be as much rubbish as the other threads on the subject.
 
I don't understand his reluctance to join us. He would get to play in front of 40,000 plus adoring fans, he seemed happy living in the area with his missus, and at 23 he could give us 3 years and as long as he enhanced his reputation, he would just be coming into his prime and would get his move to a Champion's League club. If he was already 27/28 I could understand his reservations.

We can't hang on forever though. Not only is the position key but so is the money. At some point we have to commit to something or someone.
Putting a good team together is like a big jigsaw puzzle, the parts shouldn't be selected in isolation of each other.

If we go out and spend big on an alternative to Borini and he later becomes available on a loan do we try to shoehorn him in?? I think we probably should because even though it'll be cluttered at first space will appear as the season progresses. Good players should be able to make a contribution somewhere. All the top teams have multiple quality players.

The point still stands. If he is as good as he thinks he is, he could enhance his reputation even in an ordinary side and then get his dream move. He's still young enough. The alternative would seem to be struggling to get into Liverpool's team.

Agree with most of that. However, the plane point, I am unsure about.

I can see why he doesn't want to come. I just think he needs to take a gamble and it really could have worked out for him.

Saying all this, he still may sign. God knows though. Just glad the club are showing ambition and willing to spend money.
