Bloody hell. I was going to go there as well but I'm on me hols. Aye, I think I'll have to keep it open until I come back (about the 19th of August).
Great gesture that mind.
Isn't it just - a massive boost to already incredible total. They do say that things organised on an impulse usually turn out better than those planned! Proof in the pudding this like.

Hope you're having a great holiday.

Don't leave until the 1st Aug for 2 weeks, but thanks anyway

If this continues marra you might never need to come back.

You should pick a closing date - say the end of August and anyone who want to contribute after that link them to Marie Curie and Bobby Robson

or this could go on for ever

Unbelievable Jeff!

what an idea this has turned out to be!, if you thought about it you would have been surprised if it earned 3 let alone 30 grand

Pisses me off even more that the site owners wont reduce their 'cut' of the funds raised - the longer it goes on the more money they make. They are sat with over thirty grand (& growing) in their bank account earning more and more interest.

A necessary evil I guess.

Never thought about that. Do you know what sort of cut they take??

They are all a much of a muchness when it comes to taking their slice. Some of them add a charge on to donors cards to cover the cost, some take a cut of each donation and then charge a final handling fee - 7.4% (or whatever) shouldn't detract one iota from what you have achieved

As I said its a necessary evil, just pisses me off a tad.....

Is this what they all do? For example sites like JustGiving?

No, Justgiving takes a cut but not as big. But JG are just for charities, you don't see the money it gets emailed to them the minute each individual donation is made. Remember that when we origianlly done this it wasn't for charity so I couldn't open a JG account (I tried). I was going to do it through paypal, but there is no way we would have got anything like this amount if I'd done that (people wouldn't have been to see their donation or watch the amount raised go up). At least this way it's transparent.

Cheers, and I've pulled one of the buttons off me lacoste top on your recommendation.

Another way to think of it is without the 7.4% there's a chance a lot less would be raised. Not saying it's right but is certainly helps or makes things easier for something like this to happen.

Will you not get Giftaid when you make the donations to the charities that adds extra money on? I don't know how it works tax relief or summat.
