Borini

Borini hoping a Champions League team matches the 14 million. Think he's batting above his station.

If he is still hoping for a CL club, then he is in a tricky situation. No English top 5 or 6 club will buy him; and there's no way an Italian side could afford the 14m we've agreed.

Despite his worries, I suspect things will move fast this week. He either signs for us or gets frozen out by Liverpool. Weirdly being frozen out may work in his favour as he might be able to get a last minute loan switch to a big Italian club

It will depend how desperate Liverpool are to get him off the books

Given the amount of players they are on the verge of signing they will want him gone.

Unless they have a big change oh heart or are waiting until they sign a few players it doesn't look like they intend to freeze him out.

Hope I'm wrong but I can't see this happening now.

Nor can I to be honest. What more of an indication do you need FFS? When a player prefers to travel with his club to half way around the world than discus terms then you know you have lost him. Bit hard for him to discus terms with Poyet from another continent.

And it comes out that it's 'cause he wants to stay with Liverpool to fight for his place, play Champions' League, etc. etc. how will you react towards him when Liverpool play at the SOL?

Complete indifference. I will treat him like any Liverpool player.

Remember when Darren Bent was in Birmingham before an offer had even been accepted. Borini doesn't want to join Sunderland and it's unfortunate, but in the words of Steve Bruce: we move on.

*Don't quote this if he signs
Key difference is that Borini appears to be a professional and sensible young man. Bent was tweeting left right and centre that he wanted to sign for us because he'd burnt his bridges and we were the biggest club to be in for him despite his goal scoring ability. His move to Villa was nothing to do with bettering himself professionally and all about the cash. Borini may well just be more respectful of his employers and bright enough to know things change quickly in football so it's better to keep your gob shut until everything's sorted. I'd hope and expect him to sign unless a significantly bigger club comes in for him and that's fair enough.

Or it could be that Liverpool's 1st choice strikers are not with the squad at present, and as he's a Liverpool player they need him to fulfil a role on a lucrative tour? And I assume that his agent does all of the negotiations and he merely turns up when they're done?

Everyone should react accordingly in terms of the important goals he scored and the effort he put in.

If he were to come on everyone should act accordingly and hope he's the f***ing pits.

Thats what I'm thinking he knows the club the area so not as if he needs to look around first. Until personal terms are sorted he'll continue to do what he's paid to do and let his agent do what he's paid to do IMO .... Fly back later in the week for a medical ;)

Polite applause when he comes back for his efforts last season.
This. He agreed to come for a year, he came for a year. He gave his best and scored some memorable goals (2 v Mags, COC Final, Chelsea pen, Man Utd pen, WBA volley). He's a good guy whether he comes or not.

And his missus is hot
