will be pretty reckless if sunderland didn't know in advance that borini had planned to turn us down, poyet must have some idea whether he wanted to come permanatly

But prior to that the reports were that Borini wanted the move. Maybe he has changed his mind......or maybe he doesn't need much convincing at all and is just letting his agent get him the best deal possible.
But a deal is clearly nowhere near completion.

Would he fly there if there was a chance terms could be agreed on tomorrow? Meaning he will fly all te way back? No chance, going to be another 10 days at least yet now. How many games are Liverpool playin there?

He's with the squad because he's still their player!

Fee agreed late Friday, then both clubs had games yesterday.

Today's Sunday, and go back through history and look for how many deals were completed on a weekend. It won't be a very high percentage!

I'm sure talks with the agent will be scheduled for this week so in the meantime he has to carry on as normal. That's why agents are employed by players.

I'm sure some people think it's like a computer game and you click a few buttons then that's it.
Thought he was in talks agreeing personal terms though
That's what it said in the papers

Remember Spurs hauled Bent off the plane when he was ready to fly once they accepted a bid .
I am hoping Borini is out on the first plane back to a England once they touch down in America

You're right but other players certainly haven't travelled in similar circumstances.

It's going to be a while yet

If the agent meets with the club on Monday it's likely to be a couple of days hashing things out. Conceivable he'd fly back in the middle/end of the week. People do it for business all the time. Boston is about a 5 hour flight I presume? It's not exactly an expedition to Mars he has gone on.

So we would put a bid in for millions of pounds and hope that it would not happen just so we could please supporters who, when it doesn't happen, will be pissed off anyhow? Short must have been hiding behind the grassy knoll. He is from Texas after all.

This is what I said yesterday we must have had some encouragement from him to go ahead with the bid.
Surely......

But where is the need if a deal was so imminent? It just doesn't make sense.

This is a negative development and there's no point in trying to dress it up in any other way.
I agree Liverpool might not sanction the sale of Borini without wrapping up the Remy deal first but even so if they are confident of both deals going through it makes perfect sense for the players concerned to remain in this country.
If through unforeseen circumstances the deal collapsed then fly Borini out go America but the day after announcing a fee had been agreed to take a player on a pre-season tour scheduled to last until August 4th .... it makes no sense unless either the player or club has had a change of heart.
