our priority was (staying in) the league too. Didn't stop us reaching Wembley.

They were in a European Cup Quarter Final 2 years ago. I'd settle for that.
We were 35 minutes away from Europe and a trophy last season, not bad for Poyet's first season.

Need to keep up that style of play we had during the Great Escape and in that move at Old Trafford and we should do well.

:lol:in your mind do you really still believe that these lads were on poyets wish list or that they fell into ellis's price range, be honest.
Jones maybe but I think Poyet would have been interested in Gomez and Pantilimon anyway (yes, depending on price).

They fell into the "out of contract or freebies" that will help replace the lads we let go

we have a massive rebuilding job on, not all incomings can be bought. We have to rely on out of contract or loan players whether we like it or not

whether we invest in any big signings remains to be seen, but i'd be surprised that gus stayed unless he had some guarantees over money available

youre right mate but barring competition for the keeper spot they have not improved the starting 11 one bit.

Big if that mind.

Aye and you keep thinking because we have failed, it means we are trying to fail.

And previous failures are not necessarily an indication of the inevitability of future failures. It is how you respond to the failures that matters.

However, SAFC's responses have tended to be inadequate in previous years and unless that changes that may well result in a continuation of the failure

2 great players scouts from all over Europes biggest clubs didn't notice amazing work by the mags to get them

This Riviere was linked with Wigan last summer

They have also been sweeping, like I said earlier, it's not through lack of effort and we have to hope Poyet and Congerton are here for the long run and we are in desperate need for some stability.

Not that big, it was mainly about confidence, which allowed Poyet's style to shine through.

Still quite a bit of work to do in the market (Alonso, Borini and a quality midfielder the only necessitates IMO.
But then we would be very short on squad depth. A couple of injuries and we would be fucked.

As for that run at the end, I think the previous 34 games are a bigger indicator than the mini run at the end. Let's not forget that.

We aren't in a terrible state, but we have a lot of work to do on the training pitch and in the transfer market.

Im not sure theres a more deluded poster on the board than andy like, if you told him tomorrow was monday hed argue it wasnt

Hows that 10 million pound centre mid replacement for seb larsson coming on andy? I mean you were telling everyone on the board seb larsson wouldnt be a starting player last season

Those who I think are the important signings, not that I think we should only sign those.

We played well in plenty of other games too under Poyet, mags and Fulham away, the Cup final, last 30 minutes against Liverpool away, City home but a lot depends on getting the most out of Wickham, Fletcher and Altidore. Need a focal point up front.

I think thats the concern still for me, the starting 11 is weaker than last season without alonso & borini. The squad is probably no better either.

still a hell of a lot of work to do. Lets hope theres a lot going on behind the scenes, i'm sure there is

But then I was wrong and we won more games when he played than anyone else.
