Don't worry we look like we may increase our offer for Alonso from 1.6million to 1.8million.

Ellis may finally capture his main target of the window!

Decent signings on paper, remains to be seen how well they adapt to prem league.

regardless of who they sign, they still have pardew managing them and f***ing things up :D

Im not slagging the club, you just know from the last 3/4 seasons that the ambition is to stay in the league

The fact that ellis was one of the main promoters for FFP that he isnt interested in making us a premier league force, just happy to pick the big bucks it brings up

Spending 400k net suggests they werent trying to do anything special
We have spent a f***ing fortune on transfers under Ellis Short, a genuinely insane amount of money. We still couldn't compete, the only to go is to think long term and eventually bring through your own stars and try and get gems for your first team in the meantime.

The players we have brought into the first team hasn't worked yet but it's not for the lack of trying, that absolutely does not mean we have no ambition. All these academies we have set up or have a hand in is so we can try and bring through the next Adebayor or Yaya Toure, that's very long term though.

In the meantime try and have a little patience, we will still spend a shit load of money during this window. Just like we did last season when we actually spent nigh on £30m.

Have Newcastle not sold Cabaye and (all but) Debuchy?

We had a massive wage bill, in a large amount of debt and losing around £25m per season. Would you rather we went out of business?

And no, we spent almost £30m. It doesn't become "just 400k" in the books because we've sold players, it's still almost £30m.

Would like to say 'poor signings' or 'great signings' but can't say either until they've kicked a ball in the premiership. i always see it as the great 'graham carr' finding gems but it has always resulted in pardew not being able to manage them. along with the fact that any quality is coached out of them or if they show any quality they are sold

Last summer were we or were we not 400 k out of pocket on transfers?

I truly and honestly have no idea about either of them. So I'm not going to get me knickers in a twist that they have signed them. Time will tell I suppose although I'm sure the Chronicle and Journal will be writing about them like they have signed Messi and Ronaldo

And here's me thinking that net spend of a business means fuck all. Its all about what you spend, regardless of what profit you make.... Give the fuck ower man!

dont let the facts get in the way

love the way some put it as if they are the inside knowledge and accountants extraordinaire regards the financial side of the club

Bought:
Altidore - £7.5m
Giaccherini - £6.5m
Moberg Karlsson - £1.5m
Ba - £400k
Mannone - £1.5m
Mavrias - £2.5m
Scocco - £3.2m
Bridcutt - £3m
Sold:
Mignolet - £10m
Sessegnon - £5.5m
Elmohamady - £2m
McClean - £2m

That's not including loan fees, agent fees, signing on fees, wages, etc. for the nigh on 20 players we signed. So you tell me, how were each of those transfer fees paid? All up front, over 3 years and how did they differ from the players we sold?

A complete myth IMO. He managed them to 5th and 10th. Cabaye, Debuchy and Ba played very well and were signed by top teams for nearly 40m. Even Cisse looked class for a few months.
Pardew is doing a good job there.

Who cares? Every club makes those payments. Scocco and Bridcutt aren't summer transfers.
