seriously ? Southampton aint got shit on Sunderland - he'd be going to a nothing team, stripped bare by shitehawks ;)
So obviously a wind up even I can tell it is.
Southampton have consistently finished above Sunderland ower the last 40yrs or so. Our days of being considered a far bigger club than Southampton finished a long long time ago. However much we dont like it they are on a level with us now and have been for ages.

Its just my opinion, let Fabio decide - I know who i'd choose, but i'm completely biased of course ;)

I'd say we are slightly above them, not by much.
They had a nightmare 9/10 years after they were relegated .They even got relegated from the ccc. They've only been back in the premier league a couple of seasons.
Even prior to 2005 they'd spent years and years avoiding relegation with a series of managers and being heavily reliant on Le Tissier.
At the end of the day choosing between us and Soton would come down to money and little else.
Borini knows he is a fans favourite and crowd wise we shit all over Soton, but they would be side shows.
I don't buy Southampton have consistently finished above Sunderland ower the last 40yrs or so. Both clubs have been yo yo clubs, and our only highlight has ( for both ) been an FA Cup win against the odds

Errh in the last 40 yrs weve been relegated from the "ccc" anrl ynar .
Errrh weve spent decades and decades avoiding relegation aanarl ynar.
Ive not got the stats to haand but Id bet theyve got a higher average league finishing position than us ower the last 40yrs or so.

I was disputing that you so readily consider them so superior to us ( consistently finished above us ).
I said we were both yo yo clubs.
Overall I was trying to put across the point that there's no reason for Borini to compare the clubs and come to the conclusion that Soton are some sort of football behemoth and we're just a football 'fly in the ointment'.
The past 40 years neither club has done much to celebrate

A season & a half?

The reality is; we want him, Liverpool want to sell, but the clubs can't agree a fee. It will now be a waiting game to see what happens

I suspect the lad himself will be playing a waiting game.
He'd be daft not to go for the best possible option. Whatever happens he's contracted to LFC for 3 (?) more seasons so whatever happens he must get the wages he is contracted to get whether rotting in the reserves or on loan ( here or in Europe ). If he's to be transferred he's going to want to weigh up the options. He may also be on a loyalty bonus he does not wish to forego by openly angling for a move.
There's going to be a myriad of factors in play and it is highly unlikely it's just a case of us putting in an offer acceptable to us and LFC, not least being he has to agree to come. Just because Liverpool want rid ( hypothetical ) doesn't mean he has to go to the team with the best bid

Sick of idiots like you running down my football club.
Sunderland always has been and still is a bigger football club than Southampton.
Full stop!

I was defending the club..read my post.
Riff Raff Soton were consistently better, and I brought him to task over it
I await the apology

Totally agree this comment - historically and now SAFC are a bigger club in terms of everything than Southampton. Ok - they finished above us in the league last season but didnt we play them 4 times in league / cup and came out on top in 3 of those games. They are going to struggle next season unless they sign some players to replace those that have left ( bit like us really ).

They were in league 1 3/4 years ago.

Sunderland is and has always been a much bigger club than Southampton. Just as we are a much bigger club than Portsmouth, Fulham, Boro etc, although in the past posters on here have been only too willing to argue the contrary.

No they don't.

Of course they do, he isn't going to get a look in at all next season so he's just a drain on wages. He will leave, it's just a matter of time.

There's no point us rushing in and trying to sign him now either, we have got all summer to have a look around first and see if there's better value elsewhere. Borini is good but he isn't as fantastic as this board makes him out to be.
