I don't get this loyal servant he basically hasent been very good and wont of had any offers to go elswhereFar more deserving than last year's beneficiary who took a huge salary for 4years for no return. Benefits are designed for exactly the likes of Muchall and Breese, journeyman cricketers who have been loyal servants for 10 years. Both are excellent at limited overs cricket and excellent role models to be captaining the 2nd XI. No doubt both could have commanded regular places in the 2nd division had they not stayed loyal to Durham.

That's personal opinion and ours differ but both Coetzer and Harmi jnr have been very successful in the 2nd division which suggests Muchall would have been also.I don't get this loyal servant he basically hasent been very good and wont of had any offers to go elswhere
well if he could of gone elsewhere surely that would show a lack of ambition not wanting to play more cricketThat's personal opinion and ours differ but both Coetzer and Harmi jnr have been very successful in the 2nd division which suggests Muchall would have been also.

Totally agree. Played with breesey for a season and he a good lad. Both prime examples of what the benefit year is designed for. Two good honest pros.Rubbish, both him and Breese are fully deserving of their benefit.
im a big fan thanksYou really are commenting on something you know nothing about. There are reasons outside of cricket that have been factors in Muchalls decision to remain at Durham for as long as he has.
True supporters who know this are fully behind him being awarded his benefit.

Care to expand on that?
Nothing controversial -simply family reasons and his right to privacy should be respected.Care to expand on that?

No.
As I said, the supporters who actually take the time to attend games know the circumstances and fully support Muchall in his benefit year.
harry i have no problem with you at all, you seem a sound and knowledgeable chap but this comes across as pretty condescending - i consider myself a true supporter but living the thick end of 400 miles away i can't get to many games at the riverside and even if i did i'm not sure im the type who would crack on with players all that much.. alot of people will get themselves to as many games as they can without knowing the ins and outs of players personal lives.
having said all that i do think i recall what it is you're alluding to, however i would not begrudge muchall [and breese] their benefits or staying at durham over chasing more game time anyway, talented or otherwise. grafters, who have served durham with everything they got. not world beaters but not everyone in the squad will be.

A little more tolerance of players shortcomings and a bit more knowledge of the facts before making sweeping statements wouldn't go amiss.
