england to win the series 6/5

india to win the series 7/4

drawn series 5/1

i am going large on the 7/4, with a saver on the draw. hate backing against england and being ultra fair, we could have won or drew the series v sri lanka but i am basing it on moores inability and cook being found out. yes class players have dips in form but this looks a different tfhing altogfether imo. even getting out to pull shots now.

there is not one player in englands squad that india fear. dhoni in his last tour here probably will ge desparate to have a series win on his record.

You might be right about that but I'm not sure it matters a lot. In terms of India in England there isn't really anyone for them who I think we'll fear. Mind if Plunkett can generate some pace on decks (which should be) prepared to suit pace bowling they may be a tad worried about him.

Apparently the Feds are after Dhoni!

Still fancy them. 7/4 is cracking value

Only thing that I can think of that works in our advantage is that a lot of this India side have never played test cricket before in England. Probably only the likes of Gambhir, Dhoni and Ashwin have any real experience at this level in this country.

Although knowing us we'll probably prepare absolute roads for them to bat on, let's have some grass on the wicket and look to play to our strengths.

Yeah spot on that is what we need wickets to be prepared for our bowlers, because most of their batsman are class acts.

What I think is in our favour though is that not sure the Indians treat test cricket as much as a priority as ODI and 20/20 these days

Let's just remember that this is India without Tendulkar, Dravid and Laxman. This is an India without an away series win in 3 years. This is an Indian where 3/18 tourists have played a test in England (and one of those was recalled for that reason alone). And this is an Indian without a really world class bowler.

England have been crap for 6 months or so. But the newbies have started well, Cook and Bell have 14,000 plus test runs and Broad and Anderson are our highest wicket taking pair EVER.

all excellent points but this is england who have lost 6 out of the last 7 tests and with a proven failure as a coach. the four named have all been contributors to this dismal 6 months.

And Fletcher has lost every single away series in charge of India. If I remember correctly anyway.

Give Moores a chance. He lost Trott, Swann, KP (for whatever reason), Stokes.

The players brought in have all done a canny job so far - hundreds for Robson and Ali as well as Ballance and Root, and wickets for Plunkett.

If a batsmen plays a shit shot, the coach can do very little about that. His job is to help rectify that over time.

i agree, this test has to be won if england are going to get somewhere. all excellent performances from the young lads. lets hope the old stagers can rectify their problems. i have my doubts and would love to be proved wrong but i feel this summer cokuld be a long drag

It could be, but we are blooding a brand new team.

In 18 months time, the old stagers may just be Cook, Bell and Broad. That's some transition.

But we have a top 6 now. Being back Stokes and we have an all rounder. I'm not confident that we have a new keeper yet, and genuinely not convinced there is the class in the seam bowling when Jimmy signs off.

And well, a spinner. Let's not talk about that eh?

agreed. will be interesting what happens after the toss. win it and will cook bat and have the pressure straight on or bowl like we chose at headingley. i feel cook will bowl first if he wins the toss

who do you think should be keeper mate

not asking me direct but imo buttler should have been blooded this summer. that is not a slight on prior, i just feel we need to have the young lads ready for next summer. the aussies will be coming with pace again. will the older lads be up to it, another year down the line?

At the moment Prior.

I don't buy the Buttler hype yet, he isn't a solid enough bat for test cricket and is far from the best with the gloves. Great one day player like.

The best pure keepers, Read and Foster, are not worth investing in anymore. I was hoping Steve Davies would kick on, but seems to have stagnated.

its on now sadly, i hope i am proved wrong but nothing in the two tests so far, leads to anything but an india win
