Sorry, first post, and I know I shouldn't because it's so self indulgent but..... I've just had word from the ECB that my daughter has been selected for the England Womens under 19 development squad. She plays at East Rainton (in their 1sts) and at Phili occasionally in their u18s, so I guess some of you will have come across her already..... Christ and I can't spell !

I haven't yet but hoping to in the near future.

Nice one.

There a lot of girls/women's teams in the County? My eight year old daughter is mint with a bat (doesn't take after me I was a pie chucker).

Superb that. Brilliant stuff. Does she go to Loughborough or Lords for this?

She goes to Loughborough for a couple of squad games in July. There's 24 kids in the development programme and I think that there's usually a touring team over here later in the Summer, the best 15 or so from the programme will make the main squad up for the summer and then there's an overseas tour in the Winter.

Just hope she makes a good enough impression to get involved in the two main series.

Think that there's teams at Chester le Street, Shotley, Norton, Brandon, Willington. The county have squads at u13, u15, u17 levels. Just give the cricket board a bell and see if she can go along to one of the u13 nets. They are always keen to get kids involved and obviously there's nowhere near the competition there is for the lads squads, although there are loads more lasses involved now than there was when my daughter first started playing at Phili.

Excellent, best of luck for the rest of the summer, is the young lady RW by any chance?

Cheers mate, Shotley Bridge is close.

Be as self indulgent as you like with that one son - congratulations big time. I hope that she does you proud and becomes as good a role model for her sport as Steph Houghton is for hers. All the best.
