Your objective report is very much appreciated, Harry, but tomorrow's abysmal forecast has guaranteed a draw. Increasingly flat tracks are becoming a norm at the Riverside which is a concern.

Having got back from the game and reading through the posts on here I've obviously been watching a different game to the match "commentators" on here.
During the day the ball stopped swinging and the pitch got easier to bat on, to take 10 wickets today we had to make the Middlesex batsmen play atacking shots in the hope of inducing bad shots, otherwise they could have just batted out time. Colly kept an atacking field all through their ininngs waiting for the chances, and it worked. They were bowled out on a pitch that offered very little seam or swing after lunch, I'd call that a success.
As for the comment that Finn was bowled by a good length ball that kept low, that's not true, he was bowled by a quick Yorker that beat him for pace.
To get maximum bonus points and enforce the follow on against a very good side currently top of the table is a fantastic effort from the lads, a bit of luck with the weather tomorrow and we may have a chance of a win.
Very interesting to hear an alternative view. What's your opinion on the constant short bowling? Was that actually true?
It was frustrating seeing the constant boundaries though.
It depends what was meant by "constant" short bowling, line and length balls stopped troubling the batsmen after the first few overs and the bowlers had to get the batsmen playing shots, full balls were getting driven along the ground, so the next option was to drop it short. Some balls were too short and too wide, but not excessively so, the ball was being hit in the air which gave us a chance of taking wickets which we did. Colly could have played it safe by telling the bowlers to keep it up and straight and posting men on the boundaries to contain the runs but he doesn't play the game that way, there was enough runs on the board to let the batsmen play their shots and take the chances when they came. When you've a big score to play with a few boundaries are always going to be worth giving away if it means the chance of a wicket.
Cheers for that Harry, you're right about spreading the field - no point in that because we have to take 20 wickets.
I suppose in the grand scheme of things we took 8 of the 16 wickets needed today and you'd expect the pitch to offer more on Day 4.
Given the choice of needing 8 wickets and a 148 lead going into Day 4 you'd take that everytime. The forecast looks like it'll be a washout but you do have to play the game not the weather so there's no complaints from me about the gameplan in this one.
Thursday's forecast looks better - so let's hope the wind picks up and blows the rain through sharpish!
Forecast looking shitter now likeRe: the weather, I think the fuckers just make it up. This has already been linked up butYou must be logged on to see external linksthat shows no rain over CLS until 7pm tomorrow...... So what the fuck do you beleive?
That's not me getting my hopes up mind.
Oh dear! Unfortunately there was some batting left. However, if anyone had offered a 148 lead with eight wickets to get in the last day against the leaders of the table, I for one would have snapped their hands off. Hopefully good weather and good bowling will all come good tomorrow - this from a Sunderland supporter who's mantra appears to be KTF .... ha'way DurhamThey have no batting after these two so once we just get an end open they should fold fairly quickly.
I take it you're talking about the league title? Not sure, they tend to go for caution rather than the throat. That indecisiveness could cost them big time. Long way to go and I'm looking forward to a lovely summer basking in the sunshine with a cool pint in my hands watching as many games as I can ...The yorkies are gonna piss this title tbh
Suppose the wheels might come off if England draft in lyth, which is perfectly possibleI take it you're talking about the league title? Not sure, they tend to go for caution rather than the throat. Dunno, the wheels can come off at any time with weather, injuries and a sudden loss of form. All I know is I love the game and being there when I can with a beer in my hand and a toilet within close proximity!Suppose the wheels might come off if England draft in lyth, which is perfectly possible
That does not bode well - hopefully they've got it completely wrong ......Edit - changed againYou must be logged on to see external linksnot as bad as before but still unlikely to get play.
Apart from the several previous posts from you complaining about our bowling tactics.![]()

Some think drainageThey should do with the team and resources they have.
What has happened to Riverside's pitch like? Why is it playing so flat?
