Looks like SL will beat their previous score.
jordan starting his spell now. was a canny diving catch he took, though, from a strange sort of hook shot, going to around 3rd slip area

51 for 1 off 11.2

dilshan 26 off 38
sangers 3 off 16

i think jordan may get a test place v sri lanka

Jordan was really poor there, when he kept needing to get off strike it was taking him 2,3 balls to do it, needed to do it first ball

Jos could of got us home there!

Fantasic innings from Jos

What I would say is, if you look at that aussie, india series last year, there were 100s like that every game. Not taking it away from him, but the "once in a life time" stuff from the commentators shows you how we have been off the pace in ODIs.

Can anyone explain why buttler attempted the run? As soon as he realised malinga was going to run him out, why not sacrifice tredwell?

no blame attached to buttler, ravi or jordan. look at the over 50 balls not scored off between root and ballance. surely they could have found some singles or turned singles into 2 s ?

also we appear to play 30 overs like test cricket, then expect buttler and bopara to score 180 plus in the last 20 overs.

also, i mentioned before, it is getting a long time waiting for a match winning innings from morgan. another pretty mediocre way he was dismissed today

That our commentators for you always going over the top.

However that should not take away from that innings we were dead and buried when Buttler came in and he would have won it,but for the best death bowler in the world.

The 16 wides bowled by England were the difference.

It was an incredible innings though. No other player has ever scored an ODI century as fast at Lords, not by a long way. Buttler's was 61 balls, next best was Clive Lloyd in 1975 who took 82 balls. In terms of strike rates for players hitting a century, Buttler's was 163. Next best again is Lloyd with 120.

haway pi. root and ballance let 50+ dot balls go by. bopara and buttler made it a game
Not denying that, but I am sure almost everyone thought that when we needed 50 or so that Bopara would lose his wicket at some point. He almost never sees it home. and it was almost inevitable.

i agree but i am sick of the top order using up 30 overs to score around 100. morgan has not finished a game, for what seems like forever and bell looks a million dolars but never finishes. the game was lost by the top 5 today. no urgency, test match style batting
hales could be the solution but i doubt moores will use him. barring broad for jordan, i think that will be the team come the world cup

its too much of a cosy club
