Incredible stuff, 50 off just 15 balls(fastest in IPL history) hit dale steyn for 26 off an over!!

5x4s 7x6s strike rate of 327 kolkata chased 160 in 14.2overs(they had to chase the score in under 15.2 overs to finish 2nd means they have 2 chance to reach the final)

I've honestly never seen a second of IPL in my life, bar the occasional youtbe link that has been posted for a catch or summit.

Do people follow teams or just watch it cos its the only live cricket on?

That is fantastic mate awesome, not many could hit the best bowler in the world for 26 in a over.

Think people watch it mate like me,because it is fantastic entertainment watching the worlds best showcase their great talents.

Watch the odd bits, just because it's cricket at the end of the day.

I'm not a snob I like all formats of the game.

Thats the weird thing about IPL, I will happily watch a county or international 20/20 & would much rather watch it than a 50 overgame. That said, I can't get me head round watching teams I dont know about and who despite their stars, dont interest me. Odd

I think the bowling's awful, some of the commentators wind me up (everything's the best thing ever and sixes and catches have a sponsor) but at the end of the day it's cricket on tv (I don't have sky) and there's nothing better than the crack of a perfectly timed 6 that lands in the second tier

Any other cricket > IPL (in my own opinion).

What confuses me about you mate,is that it is clear as day that you love your cricket as never of this forum and clearly have a lot of knowledge about cricket, yet fail to see the obvious talent and entertainment that the IPL offers.

I don't fail to see the talent and entertainment, I just prefer not to watch it.

Give me a well constructed 100 spanning two/three sessions of play over 30 off 10 balls any day.

True but thats like not seeing the joy in a football match where there is lots of goals, compared to an attritional 0-0.

I'm a cricket fan at the end of the day, test match is the boy but got to enjoy the technique of t20 cricket. That hundred by hales in the world cup was one of the best knocks I've seen by an England player in all formats.

Yeah agree with that, test matches should always be number one,but 20/20 matches are great entertainment and if done right should be room in the calendar for both, even before 20/20 existed people would prefer watching batsman score quickly the likes of Botham,Richards,Sobers rather than the batsman who constructed an innings.

Of course there is a place for well constructed innings just think people prefer watching batsman score quickly and always have.

I fully understand up it argument and to a degree I do agree. Not sure your analogy to football is quite fitting but I can see where you're coming from.

To be honest my hatred for the BCCI and Indian Cricket (although not Indian cricketers) is part of the reason I am not too keen. I very much enjoyed the Big Bash for example but not a fan of the IPL.

A lot of it is down to the commentators - as mentioned here already - it's all arse licking and 'best shot/catch/ball ever'. When in reality, it isn't. It's just a very good piece of cricket.

I find T20 a bit dull to be honest. It's just a game for biffers. Swing and hope

ODIs are also fairly dull but at least there are some tactics involved

Test Cricket is the only format for me

Thats a fair point, agree wholeheartedly about the BCCI, can't say I watch much IPL just a handy thing to have on when it's the only thing on.

And my football analogy was more that a 0-0 can be very tactical(still with chances) whereas as free scoring game tends to be more open and less reliant on tactics. (so implying a 0-0 could be more like test a freescoring more like a t20). Not exactly a great one mind.

I bloody love test cricket and a good game is the pinacle of sport. I hate ODI's but I'm a fan of t20

The problem with the IPL is that it goes on for so long, there's absolutely no need for it to be a six week tournament with about 60 games.

Can't say I've ever sat down and watched a match, probably more to do with it being hidden away on ITV4 than anything else. If it was condensed to a three or four week tournament with less games it would be more watchable, but there's just too much of it, and once you've seen one match of superstar batsmen slogging some poor Indian jobbers out of the park you've seen them all.

The poor indian jobber took 4 wickets and had a better economy rate than the two 2 test players that bowled at kolkata ;)

most of the top wicket takers are indians as well

i saw a catch by pollard, one handed, right on the boundary, tossed it up, then dove full length to catch it. remarkable, as i slip into coleman speak

Down to money mate grounds jam packed for every game,if people actually watched it would see the standard is actually good, the again it would be as the best players in the world are playing in it,including very good Indian cricketers.
