LVCC - Somerset v Durham

Smiths record is no better than Muchalls in the CC, similar amount of games, Muchy has more 1st class runs at only 2 less than Smiths average, plus Muchys one day averages are better. Not a lot between them but Smithy is looked upon as a world beater while Muchy gets stick, strange that.

i agree with you, i am much happier keeping muchall than will smith. i was going to mention smith becoming a useful one day spinner last year - that was really bizarre but tbh would have come in handy this year, although unlikely he would have got in the side to turn his arm over.

we have enough spinners tbh

really? that's why stoneman has been bowling so much in the last few games despite never having bowled before?
he bowled the odd over nothing else borthwick breese pringle buckley is more than most teams would have probs be a few more young lads as well

the odd over? he bowled about 20 overs against yorkshire! borthwick is our only option and he has been going at 5 an over plus. we need someone who can offer control

edit: i'd like to see a way we can get pringle into the side, seems he is above breese in the pecking order now, which is good thinking long term. i do worry that buckley was picked ahead of him in 4 day last year, since we will probably bring him in for a batsman i'd like him to be able to average in the 20-30s.

stoneman, jennings, borthwick, richardson, collingwood, mustard, pringle, arshad/harrison/wood, rushworth, onions

pick two from arshad, harrison, wood - i like the first two for their batting, especially arshad, didn't see any express pace from wood at hove but perhaps because he is still feeling his way back from injury....

doesn't breese do that or would you not give buckley a run or is there any other lads in the seconds that are worth a shot shame we couldn't of got a class spinner in such as ajmal.

certainly I think the first 13or14 players are strong but we need depth also think we are underperforming with the ball and must do better the battings not bad atm

i don't know other counties as well as ours but i'm not sure how many teams run 16+ deep with quality county standard players. we have cut our cloth out of necessity so there is no point wanting more.

just be glad we have such an excellent youth system else we'd be truly goosed.... like kent are, proper shite like.

true hastings will be here soon and if mccleod keeps performing in 20/20 theres another 2 players to consider

aye would be excellent if macleod proved up to it especially in 4 day stuff as well as one day. even better if he can turn his arm over abit.

hastings im not getting too excited about, hopefully he will be a big hit but i won't hold my breath, one year rentals dont float my boat and his averages are decent but nothing amazing, around 25 with each and only a few 50s in his career.

Best of luck to Ryan Pringle who makes his debut today, here's hoping it's a good one.

@DurhamCricket: Paul Collingwood has won the toss and we will bat first on a sunny day at Taunton.

Good start.

Stuart Rainer interestingly writes - "It's a hazy, warm morning at Taunton and the pitch looks pretty green, but many is the captain to have fallen for that one in this fixture in recent years."

Good luck to Much too, I'd really like to see him get amongst the runs, great lad and great servant to Durham, he never deserved the stick he got (gets).

Echo this. The stick from me is more at the management than the individual. Not his fault he keeps getting picked after countless failures. Anyway, shut me up Gordon. Score a ton.

Side looks very weak mind. Need 400 atleast here IMO.

Mind looking at their side they could have Trego at 7..... Quite bowler heavy their side. Perhaps a sign this is going to be FLAT.

6-1. Stoneman fails again. Fuck off.

Thought Stoneman made good progress last year but he is struggling badly this season. Basically a walking wicket every game and we are normally always 1 down before we get to 20. Shite
