1. Out Caught
The striker is out Caught if a ball delivered by the bowler, not being a No ball, touches his bat without having previously been in contact with any fielder, and is subsequently held by a fielder as a fair catch

THIS LAW DOES NOT SAY - WAIT FOR THE UMPIRE TO MAKE A DECISION......

If you hit it and stand you are
breaking the laws of cricket and therefore you are
deliberately cheating.......
Well then 95% of professional cricketers are cheats then.
And as good as you are Neil you aren't a walker mind :-)

You should walk because as you say you know when you have nicked it,therefore if you don't you are cheating.

Just because 95% of professional cricketers don't does not make it right.

Quite a lot of footballers dive nowadays not quite 95% but still high percentage and them are cheats.

What makes cricket better sport is the fair play and the honesty, for example not claiming half volley catches and owning up when ball goes over boundary etc, people should be encouraged to walk to uphold the integrity of the sport

All very noble but if it difference between winning and losing il stand my ground every time.If it was football and I had to go to ground if it meant winning id do that too.
At least I'm an honest cheat ey :)

Not sure what to say to that mate, could not disagree with you more, bit like you say at least you don't pretend to be what your not!

Does that mean then that you would also try to claim a catch that bounced first if it meant winning or losing or do you draw the line at some point

To be fair I wouldn't do that but if I took a catch and knew my foot had caught boundary and could get away with it then I would. One of my players did this couple year ago against anfield plain.admitted it and lost game. Wasn't a happy bunny it fair to say

If anyone did that while I played for Horden a few years ago they would have been applauded for their fair play.

Maybe times have changed, would be interested in what the rest of your team thought were they pissed off with him like you,did they support his fair play or was it 50/50

All said was fair enough to be honest.Only bloke who made a song and dance was the skipper! (Me).

I suppose nobody could accuse you of not wanting to win enough, obviously a win at all costs man.

Is that bad? who knows ,positives and negatives to that.
Well I don't see it as a negative but like to think I was always gracious enough on defeat as well and don't think I had a particularly bad reputation.
Then again I was predominantly a bowler.Usually with my batting the scattering of stumps means it takes the whole to walk or not to walk out of equation! :-)

Did not think you would see it as a negative mate judging by your previous crack, then again suppose that what sport is all about, play as hard as you can fairly and no matter what happens shake hands at the end of the game and have a pint.

Just think we will have to agree to disagree that we have a difference of opinion about what is classed as fairly.

Yeah your not the first and don't imagine be the last that disagrees with me. :-)
Like I say though if I bowled and somebody nicked it I certainly wouldn't apply the double standards and start griping on if they didn't walk either.I wasn't all bad ;-)

That's fair enough mate, enjoyed the crack

Walked every time. Was part of winning 3 DSL titles at Chester le Street late 70s early 80s and would never have done anything different. Turned pro after that and continued to walk. Took 1 season then never walked again. Sad I know but that is reality I'm afraid.

Hes just a glorified slogger !!! ;) Hes always walked as long as i've played against him . Draughtsmans union
My first ever senior captain mr lobban. U should know that I left little doubt in the umpires mind whenever I had to depart! :-)
