Its a wrong decision thats all. The idea that everyone walks is utopia i suppose but at thr moment a large minority dont, therefore its not a level playing field.

remember my pal dave greener up in scotland v falkland cc me at other end 9 down needing 3 to win off a few overs dave featherd one walked off no appeals from anyone i shouted whats up he said i knicked it and kept walking to bar game over .. he never bought a drink all night ,,

I would walk everytime unless the opposition are complete and utter bellends who appeal for everything and generally just shout abuse for no reason.

Depends on the situation, midweek friendly with fellow batsmen umpiring between swigs of their beer, always walk, you're playing for fun. League match with full time umpires, let them make the decision, it's what they're there for.

You've just edged to the wicket keeper and your waiting for the finger, umpire puts another penny in his other hand and the bowler and wicky are going mental.

DO YOU WALK? ? ?
The umpire is there to make a decision. Respect it.

I'm sure it is Alec Stewart who tells a tale of walking as a young cricketer and having the umpire chase after him and tell him to get back to the crease because he had given him not out.

Walk, if you know you have hit it. Its cheating otherwise. If your not sure stand.

Umpires learn who the cheats are anyway and will give the dodgy LBW decision if your not a walker.

I doubt there many, if any, full time umpires in local cricket. Even the NEPL umpires either have other jobs or are retired. They are qualified to officiate though and its not cheap.£40 a course for level 1 and 1A and £120 for level 2 ( Premier League )

To walk or not to walk that is the question.
It is the hypocrisy that I cannot stand. The fielders and bowlers that berate a "non walker" usually do not walk themselves !
The biggest cheats, in my opinion, are the bowlers and no-one abuses them on the field.
A ball pitching outside leg stump is not out ! How many bowlers appeal for this ?
Any "noise" as the ball passes the batsman is greeted with hysterical appeals, even when the bat is nowhere near the ball.
A throw in striking the stumps is always greeted with 11 man appeals for a run out !
If you walk then good on you.
If you decide not to then so be it, but again the hypocrisy, the "non-walkers" tend to protest when they are given out when they think they are not !
Bottom line, if you do not walk, then accept any decision to give you out.
Then, again, the biggest hypocrites of all ? The ones who tell anyone that will listen "you know me, I always walk".
What they mean is that when they have a big score they walk, when it is so obvious, they walk, when they have no runs or think they can get away with it, then they do not walk, saying........."you know me, I always walk" !!!

I had a "discussion" with a Senior League opening bowler, some years ago, who constantly appealed for LBW when the ball pitched outside leg stump. He then abused a batsman who gloved one through to keeper and was given not out.
When challenged about his constant appealing his reply was "it is up to the umpire to make a decision". I rest my case !!

All this. Worst in the world the " walkers " who are flabbergasted and insulted when given
"You bowl , i'll bat and we'll let the umpire sort it out "

Youngsters should be taught that you walk - its usually bottom tier village cricket at the end of the day - is it worth the aggro to cheat??

Thats no attitude to teach them , crickets cricket and it occasionally comes with aggro ;)

I walk if I know I've hit it, if I'm not sure I wait...I have walked on ZERO and I have walked at 49 and higher. If you hit it walk, end of story. Bad LBW decisions come and go.....there will be times when you think you are lbw and don't get it. If you are seen as a fair player the opposition and the umpires know this and good karma comes your way.

I got stumped in a match for Houghton, the umpire put his finger up. I was incredulous, yep I was out of my crease but the keeper under instructions from 1st slip had crept up to the wicket without saying anything as the bowler ran up.....I started walking and was called back by the opposing captain. If they thought I was a cheat, that would not have happened.

I'm not a hypocrite either.

stand. Umpire gets paid to make a decision. Don't get the option when the finger goes up and you haven't nicked one, or you've nicked it into the pad on an lbw etc.

Have a skin thick enough to deal with inevitable stick from fielding side, many of whom wouldn't walk either and would appeal for iffy decisions without apology.

Had too many iffy decisions against me to be a walker. Used to be but not any more.

if your sure you hit it...walk

if your not sure you hit it...dont walk
You know if you've nicked it mind.
Also the answer to if you walk is NO!! Let umpire make the decision.Youll get good and bad throughout a season but don't grumble when you get a bad un if you've got away with one as well.

1. Out Caught
The striker is out Caught if a ball delivered by the bowler, not being a No ball, touches his bat without having previously been in contact with any fielder, and is subsequently held by a fielder as a fair catch

THIS LAW DOES NOT SAY - WAIT FOR THE UMPIRE TO MAKE A DECISION......

If you hit it and stand you are breaking the laws of cricket and therefore you are
deliberately cheating.......
