Sacking Bruce

Status
Not open for further replies.
The last 2 seasons have indicated that IF we would have stuck with him and gave him our support, he would be doing ok now.

IF we would have allowed him to take us down and stuck with him, he might've bought us back up straight away, learnt from his mistakes and made us bounce back stronger.

We'll never know.

I think the 'new manager bounce' model we have aspired too since is good though. Just need to sack managers more often to get more bounces.

Not sure about di canio, he had what 6 games? Too easy to say we'd have gone down with him in charge. Or too lazy

We had one point out of six and he was on the pitch gesturing to the fans and that. Do you honestly think we'd have stayed up if we'd have kept him in charge?

I don't have a crystal ball but he had those players sussed and in my opinion if we'd have gone down with him, I would of had more confidence in him rebuilding the club than with any other manager we've had in recent times.

By a fannny's hair. We were the 'best' of a bad bunch.

I'm surpised there is something I actually agree with you about.

BTW, are you still glad we are out of the FA cup? Or do you now think it was the start of our downfall?

This is the nature of the Premier League though, if you're outside the top 6. It's not something unique to Bruce. Virtually every criticism you can give of Bruce, you can gave to any of his predecessors, but Bruce did better is the only difference. And crucially, actually bought some good players.

That's a different point though.

Is that difficult if you have the money?

How many players did Bruce buy that are here now? How many of our players in total are shite or not up to scratch?

7 off the top of my head:
Brown
O’Shea
Gardner
Larsson
Vaughan
Wickham
Cattermole

Most of them.

Cattermole and Brown are fine enough. The rest are poor or past it, but that only makes them just as bad as all the other players we’ve signed since Bruce left. It isn’t an exceptional quality to be a Sunderland manager and sign shite. It was fair enough at the time to point out his players wern't great, but the following three managers have proven that it's not easy to get quality to come here, and also it's not just down to the manager who comes in and goes out. So it no longer makes sense to single him out.

It’s sort of besides the point in the sense that Bruce actually has a good player to poor player ratio, because he bought some good ones. We’ve had about about two since he left, and probably spent as much if not over Bruce’s net spend.

What criticism can you honestly point at Bruce that you can’t point at everyone else since? Everyone has been poor in the round. Everyone has been tactically confused at best. Everyone has looked without ideas. Everyone has bought poor players. Everyone has had a go at the fans and generally disrespected them and the club. Everyone has gone on a dismal run. Everyone who has left has moaned about us since.

Bruce wasn’t a good manager, don’t get me wrong, but he was probably better than everyone since nonetheless. I’d be interested to hear why you think otherwise.

I’ve never said that Bruce was worse than the managers we’ve had since, because we have had shit ones ever since he left.
They’ve all been a bag of shite. The problem with Bruce is, he slagged off the fans and laid the blame at our feet for his own failings. It has obviously really stung him to be sacked, as it was his decision to leave every club before us. He’s obviously having a bit of a chuckle to himself, in his own deluded mind, because of the way things have gone for both parties since, but I predict that Bruce will either lead Hull to relegation in the not too distant future, or because of the hype of keeping Hull up and getting to a cup final, his perception as a good football manager will lead to another club coming in for him, and he’ll jump ship before it all goes pear shaped at Hull. I believe he’s already made some comments about Hull not being big enough for him, correct me if I’m wrong like.

I suppose we could all pick a successful premier league club to follow while we are away from the premier league. We could, but probably won't, because we aren't as shallow as you.
Typical Message board warrior calling someone shallow cos they ask a perfectly valid question. What you rambling on about I've got my season ticket for the Championship. Clueless.

There was two replies on that post, that reply was aimed at chelseatiger. The way my phone is, I have to post above the quote. Apologies for the misunderstanding.

I can't think of a more worthless peurile lickspittle (unt than a prick from Hull whoring himself out in Chelsea
Maybe that is where I live. Hard for your small brain to comprehend?

If that was aimed at me I didn't understand. Happy to respond but please explain your point.

My point was, you 'supported' chelsea when Hull were lower league, but now they are in the premier, all of a sudden you are back supporting your home town team. f***ing fraud.

A
Bruce is a shit manager with a great press following. 10th and 13th were not representative of his ability - we are well shot of him. Having poor results since he was sacked doesn't mean he should not have been sacked.
Hull are a dog having its day - it happens.
As against you lot being perennial dogs, again. We are a small club with crap players, according to you lot anyway, and seem to be able to switch to pretty much any formation we want. Seems he has done a pretty good job. Whereas you lot fail to perform under anyone. And the common denominator is? You lot need to take a close look at yourselves......you are going down and you're not coming back. Did I say that before?

No, small brain, I live in Chelsea and have continued to have a season ticket since I moved down here 25 years ago and still do. Is that hard to comprehend or are you a Boro fan hanging on to the glories of Raich Carter.
