Durham v Durham MCCU

Are there any extra overs today as a result of today's loss of play?

Doubt it.

In the County Championship they play up to extra half hour on the day of lost overs but after that it goes back to normal. Can't see them adding anything for what is effectively a friendly.

Would make sense for us wanting some added though - in order to get in a bit more practice.

400 up, 8 down, I'd declare now and spend tomorrow bowling. Try to take 20 wickets tomorrow.

2nd XI are playing later this week for anyone interested. Vs.Trialists on Thursday and Vs.Uni on Friday.

I was down for most of the afternoon session. Plainly comfortable for the lads. It'll be interesting too see if we can bowl them out twice tomorrow. We might not even try like as they may consider the batting practice second time around to be more important than anything else. Lovely day in the sun mind. Cold otherwise but all in all and enjoyable afternoon out. Colly played really well for his 100, ably supported by The Colonel.

Howells keeps blathering about prior having the first ton of the cc, not technically of the season though kev ;)

I got f***ing sunburt in the morning session! Was free tea and coffee in the Lumley Suite all day as well! Cracking days play, was Colly at his best.

I caught the sun too. No idea as i spent most of the day in the Lumley Lounge.

Sangakkara apparently will be with us for up to 6 CC games. Apparently we are getting him for next to fuckall.[DOUBLEPOST=1397042095][/DOUBLEPOST]At the ground. Hard work for the students. Harrison bowling rapidly!

Fantastic news this! Who would he come for? Jennings or Breese?

Delighted to see Colly get a ton, obviously inferior opposition but he's the one player I want to find some form, if he makes run down the order, massive boost.[DOUBLEPOST=1397051125][/DOUBLEPOST]
Paul Coughlin is from Hetton le Hole and played all his club cricket at Eppleton before joining the Academy. He was a batsmen who bowled when he joined the Academy but they have been working tirelessly on his bowling. He's now 6'4" (or taller) and is bowling in the high 80's. Did not bowl at all last season due to a stress factor in his back that he picked up playing grade cricket in Australia. Still a decent bat and a superb fielder.
He's a really nice lad but certainly has a nasty streak on a cricket field and has a winning mentality. I hope he does get a chance so the supporters can see him in action. It was great to see two Eppleton juniors in the Durham CCC v MCC game with both Paul and Scott Borthwick playing. Took me back to the early days when Jimmy Daley and Shaun Birbeck were playing for Durham.[DOUBLEPOST=1396804503][/DOUBLEPOST]

Sunday Sun link about Paul Coughlin.

cheers for that mate, exciting stuff

Game drawn.

Craic was that Durham werent going to bat again so Colly probably decided that enough was enough. The lad who topped scored for them Steel is an American. It was only his second first class game ever. Looked very composed at the crease.

Second XI play a team of trialist tomorrow at the riverside. I'm going to try and get down in the afternoon too see whose playing for both sides. Should be interesting too see whose bubbling under the radar. Friday the seconds play the University lads again in a one day game at the riverside. Same wicket at this match.

Don't think i've ever seen an American Cricketer before. Must be the Cricketing equivalent of looking at a Unicorn.

Will you keep us updated with the score and who's playing mate?

Aye. I'm at work in the morning but will head off down after that for a while and see what the Craic is. Be really interesting too see who is playing for both teams particularly the trialists.
