Short Is Failing Us

West Brom bought Sess and they are still in with a shout of going down just like us. A load of signings didn't work out, without question. I can remember loads on here questioning why we didn't go for van Wolfswilly when Norwich signed hi. It doesn't always work out. Short has backed us before but it looks like he's pegging it back and i can't blame him for that. At the end of the day what will be will be. I still think we will stop up for the record

Sick of being persecuted as a mag for standing up for the fans, yes we have no god given right to do well in anything, but ffs we are getting pissed on by the people who run our club because they know we'll suck it up and be back, the only way to stop the disease that has plagued the club for years is to hit them where it hurts, only then will the changes start to happen.

I am not convinced short is trying to stiff us. I think he is just clueless when it comes to running a football club.

Can't really be anti-Short imo he has backed EVERY single manager with everything they wanted for better or for worse.

Not really. The money wasn't there this season, we had to settle with bargain basement players, players no one else wanted. Although I expected Giaccherini to do better than he has done.

The De Fanti appointment was a disaster.

Wtf, not even if it costs us our PL place? We received a bumper sky payout and spent about 500k of it. Outspent by the likes of Norwich, Swansea and hull.[DOUBLEPOST=1396690655][/DOUBLEPOST]

Has he bollocks. Only MON has had net funds. Bruce and PDC had to balance the books. 50 mill sky deal and PDC got 500k.

I wish we went out and outspent every club in the league and bought class players that shot us up the league. The thing is we spent big and wasted millions seasons before the clubs you mentioned had their outlay.

We did sign a record amount of staff last summer and the flurry in the January winter tells me that Short is supporting the managers 'within the confines of the transfer fund' which is surely reasonable enough as we are not Man City

So instead of managing the debt, like liverpool, man utd etc we go all guns for paying it off. Who benefits from this? The supporters or the venture capitalist owner whose MO is to buy companies in the red, quickly bring them into the black then sell them on?

Really? Hasn't exactly backed Poyet and certainly didn't back PDC giving him a budget of 15 million to sign 14 players.

A transfer fund which is 1/20th the league average from a club that needed to spend more than most.

He could have signed just 4 much better players though a 15 million budget is pretty decent imo. Short didn't specify who just 'how much' and after that he TRUSTED the manager's judgement which with hindsight was folly but done in good faith

Squad was so small at the time was it not? We had to sign squad players to make up the numbers, and THEN we had to sign quality players to improve us and replace the likes of Sess, Rose ect. Don't think that was possible with a budget of 15 million, especially when you have a f***ing ex football agent overseeing the transfers.

The squad shall be so small come June that we'll need 10 players just to stand still.[DOUBLEPOST=1396691713][/DOUBLEPOST]
That's gross and all. Sale of Mig, Sess etc would have covered 95% of that.
And it did, Short didn't exactly put his hand in his pocket.

After the money we made (Or are going to make) from the TV deal Short probably gained more money than he lost.[DOUBLEPOST=1396691976][/DOUBLEPOST]Thing I hate is that the club doesn't have one sole voice. Since Quinny left we have no one trying to get the fans on side.

If we are relegated Short seriously needs to personally release a statement informing the fans of the plan and direction the club is looking to take. I mean, will Poyet even be here next season? Worrying.

Short said at the start of the season that the team was good enough to stay up.

That, to me, shows he didn't understand how terrible we were last season and therefore what was really needed in the summer - or he's an American who understands irony.

I see he's played his "underperforming" joker recently like.

This thread was made in October and as usual others on here were choosing to stick their heads in the sand. Many of us had seen it all before and knew the writing was on the wall.

Short still had time to do something about it in January. Hull signed Long and Jelavic, we signed Scocco...

No Poyet had time to do something about it and he thought Scocco was the answer and could get him up to speed in time.

He got it wrong though............[DOUBLEPOST=1396694719][/DOUBLEPOST]

Like I said, respect the bloke for sticking by us. But last year he definitely didn't make a 'loss' that's for certain.
