That analogy only works if the tennis player only has a finite amount of strings.[DOUBLEPOST=1394464551][/DOUBLEPOST]

2 of them were on the pitch at 0-0.

Haway man, there is arguing for the sake of it and then there is that.

This weekend (and the resultant draw) is a golden opportunity missed. The cups are the only competition we're ever going to be in a chance of winning. But it's plainly obvious that premier league survival is now priority number 1. It's all 'bout the money money money.

I back poyet too. But I'm still pissed off.

Were they not on the pitch?

No one is turning on anyone. He made an error in judgement. He can be openly debated. Am not being funny but if players need rests with 2 games in 2 weeks then we are fucked.

Fair comment.

All will be OK if we win against Palace.

If we lose and then lose to Norwich he will deserve the criticism.

I think we will go down because there isn't enough skill nor commitment in that team. I think he will bring us straight back up tho when he gets rid of the under-achievers.

Bardsley, Cattermole, Gardner, Larsson. To name but 4 first team regulars.

Bit harsh on Bardsley imo. He has been excellent.

We need to get 3 points on Sat like. Any means, we must win.

Almost 70 minutes into the game. They were still 'rested'.

To me it's clear Poyet didn't give a fuck about this game. If he came and out and said that beforehand fair enough.

If he thinks we can rest our best players and still go away to a team that has already beat us twice and expect to win 'because they're not Real Madrid' he's deluded imo.

Yes, for 1 minute.

Then 25 more minutes.[DOUBLEPOST=1394465108][/DOUBLEPOST]
'Too early to chase silverware'

Love a bit of next level ideology, its been a while

"Chase" being the key word there.[DOUBLEPOST=1394465175][/DOUBLEPOST]

It's clear that he is prioritising the league over the cup. Quite where you're getting the rest of it from is anyone's guess.

Erm, most of the people on this thread and others are disagreeing with YOU. Can we all be wrong? All these people? I think you have placed too much into the thread title. I see no one except one or two WUM's/ bellends who are backing POyet but pissed off with yesterday.

Mate, it'd save us both a fair amount of time if you read the post I was replying to as well as the one I made.

Unless you agree that Poyet is "deluded" and "doesn't give a fuck" of course.

completely understand the logic and the fact that money drives football now like at no other time, but as a Sunderland fan I watch us with the tiny hope, that one day I'll see us lift a trophy. Tbh, I'm sick to death of seeing the '73 squad rolled out every time we get remotely close - I want my generation to have something to tell the bairns, the grandbairns - I was there, I saw the lads pick up a trophy. I wanted to see a fat, greying Phil Bardlsey being rolled out in 2034, when me make our next cup final, and say I was there. I saw that. :D

So what if our last chance to do it was 8 days ago? That's football. We passed up a golden chance for our generations '73.

Our next chance might not happen till I'm drawing my pension.

Sorry, fell into the ignore trap. Didn't see the full post, it therefore looked like you were answering me.

Could happen next season.

I seem to be in a minority of 1 here but I think we did great in the cups this season.

"If we were playing Real Madrid, maybe [critics of the team selection] would have a point," he told
"But that team was good enough to win."

Ah right, got you. No worries.

Trying to avoid the "my opinion is fact" line here fwiw. Completely understand why people are disappointed, just trying to offer my view on the context. Agree that it's a disappointment, disagree that it is a disgrace.[DOUBLEPOST=1394466119][/DOUBLEPOST]

There's truth in that. Plenty on here are implying that Poyet threw the game, but it's feasible to suggest that the starting XI should have been able to compete with a significantly weakened Hull.

A team above us in the league and has beaten us twice already?

Hull played the strongest side available to them.

This relegation battle should be easy if we can rest our best players and still expect to go and beat sides

It was still a weakened side.

The relegation battle will be a bit easier now we can concentrate on it.
