Hello everyone,
I'm coming up to the game on the 15th, and I was just wondering a few things. Firstly, how long are the queues at the stadium of light metro station after the game, and am I likely to be able to get to newcastle by 7. Could you also recommend any places to eat around the stadium/sunderland area, and are there any away friendly pubs around?
Thanks

as others have said you will make the 7 train easily, You will have time to go for some food or a drink in newcastle as well (there is a bar in the station that will have the late kick off on called centurion, i think)

Not sure about metros as I never use them.

All pubs in the town centre are away fan friendly and most pubs near the ground also accept away fans, providing they behave themselves.

Head to park lane area of the town centre and you cannot go wrong, plenty of bars and the usual food outlets all within easy walking distance. Then you can head over to the stadium which is only a 10-15 minute walk to the ground.

Again you cannot go wrong, just follow the crowds over the Wearmouth bridge. You'll be able to see the stadium.

The Wolsey sometimes gets a few away in with no bother. Probably drink anywhere really as long as you didn't make it too obvious.

Except the Jackson's.

Walk into town and get the metro from Sunderland Central station.

It's a 25 minute journey to newcastle on the metro

I'd recommend doing this after the game, you will get straight on the first metro. At the Stadium of Light station you might not get on the first 2 or 3.

Traditonal greeting is Fcuk off toon toon but in answer to your questions. Metro to Newcastle is about 30 mins. Not sure of the queues - places to eat -get off at Park lane 3 stops past the Stadium stop and look of the pubs round there Fitzgeralds used to be nice for food but you have a couple of Weatherspoons as well such as the Cooper Rose - most pubs are Ok providing you don't act like a dick.

The lad was 7 ffs, not the ringleader.

It's a nonsense theory anyway this "ashamed" thing. I've seen plenty of Sunderland supporters behave like absolute arseholes, particularly away from home.

Does it make me ashamed of the club? No. Every club has its dickhead supporters, some worse than others, but people shouldnt be tarred with the same brush - especially a lad who was barely out of nappies at the time

out of nappies aged 6 , jesus you were a late developer

How regular is the metro, and does it require a ticket?

Might be cheaper getting a train from Sunderland itself, there's one at half five (which is easy from getting from the ground as i'm on the 17:30 Grand Central back to Kings Cross) iwhich gets you into Newcastle at ten to six.
