Agree, diff players have diff roles, he is extremely effective in 2nd innings. Doolan looks a good player like, no Marsh got the century but Doolan looked a proper player
 

South Africa will struggle cos they are missing the worlds second best allrounder of the last 15years (Kallis).
 
Surprised me here the Aussies . . .a lot of focus in the winter about how bad we were (and we were) however they're looking a really decent outfit, similar to us in 2011

Clearly the major influence here is Lehmann. The side is almost the same as was trounced by England Johnson is the bowler who has been roundly ridiculed. Just shows you what a different coach can bring to the table.

Also lets not forget MDV as batting coach. A world class individual both on and off the field. Love MDV me like (but not in a sexual way).
 
Johnson is f***ing tremendous like. During the winter there were some on here saying he was just quick and the pitches suited him. They did but he nonetheless hes still a cracking bowler.

He's always been a cracking bowler when he gets it right, total confidence player whose action goes to pot when he's down on his luck. Maybe he's just finally got his head right or matured late but good luck to him. There's nothing better than watching top batsmen battling against a true quick bowler.

I really like Steve Smith, doesn't have the greatest technique in the world but he's a fighter. Reminds me of Collingwood in that respect and he's always been great to watch in the IPL, lots of innovative/odd shots and he's fantastic in the field. Doesn't seem to be a dick like Warner which is always a plus.

I think you're right. In the context of the winter ashes series though, we were definitely as bad as they were good. Expect a return to the 90's for us. The recent noises from ECB are preparing us for years of dark mediocrity.

I thought he was bowling leg theory. The batsman's body is a lot easier for an express bowler to hit than top of off stump. It is unsporting, but if the umps are going to allow it then what can you do?[DOUBLEPOST=1392462699][/DOUBLEPOST]

Yeah of course he is,plenty on here during ashes series were saying he was only having a one-off series.

He is now seventh in Australia's all time wicket takers,and their have a plenty of good bowlers over the years.

Think he deserves more credit than he gets.
 
How is it possible to have a bad technique when u can play and score hundreds at test level maybe it's different to most but surely not bad just different . Johnson was on fire bowlin rapid ! Doohlan took 2 awesome catches at short leg that came of the face of the bat to

Smith is a cracking player, really rate the lad, never makes easy runs, got some 100s in tough circumstances.

Kind of sums up Australia over the last 6 months, none of their batsmen have looked outstanding but someone's always stepped up and made the runs when they've really needed them.
