According to the Daily Mail he's going to be assistant to Ashley Giles for the upcoming WIs series and the T20 World Cup.

:(

I thought he'd have more sense than to get involved with that shower

This could get Durham out of a sticky situation.

Both him and Benks are hanging up their bat at the end of the coming season and it is believed both were hoping for a coaching role at the club. Unlikely that they can afford both, it was assumed Colly would get the nod pushing Benks' nose out of joint (which would be understandable given his value to the club).

If Colly gets a permanent role with england that would allow Benks to stay here.

Of course this is all pure speculation and both might have had different paths in mind but this seems to be the buzz speaking to people around the ground last season.

They had a bad series man. And the coach has changed, as well as several senior members of the ecb.

It's been a great era for England cricket ffs.

This place is worse than pure football at times
The era is over I suspect

Good luck to him. Was inevitable he'd get a chance to be involved with England in some form or other.

I'm thankful atleast he can return to skipper the Champions in our title defence - although I don't think it'll be long before he's away on a permanent basis.

That said, we've rebuilt before and we'll do it again. I'm a right moany **** at times when it comes to demanding Durham success but 3 Titles man. Such a young county. Somerset have never won it!

I just lurve Durham CCC.

No longer an issue now as far as Benks is concerned.

Be interesting too see what happens now at Durham with Benks confirmed as being away. Colly was the main factor in durham staying up and then winning the CC. I have a gut feeling that this is Colly on the England ladder and it could be very bad news for DCCC.
